Dozens of other references contradict that statement and one of the two references is a history of drug use in Iran, a source that is patently unqualified to comment on the ethnic origins of the Safavid dynasty. The Safavid dynasty spoke Azeri according to the sources given in other place of this article and their most trusted soldiers were Qizilbash who were by and large Alevi Turkmens and Azeris.
