Geography section states: According to the United States Census Bureau, after buying the Chase Oak [sic] Golf Course the city has a total area of 68.2 km² (26.3 mi²). 68.2 km² (26.3 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

However Chase Oaks is in Plano, TX ProdigySportsman

While the Chase Oaks subdivision is in Plano, the Chase Oaks golf course was purchased and annexed by Allen to be a municpal course. Chfowler 04:02, 10 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

While the City of Allen purchased the Chase Oaks Golf Course, all the property of the golf course south of the creek which runs through the course is still within the municipal city limits of Plano, as referenced here... also, the Chase Oaks web-site bills itself as in Plano. More to the point, the City of Allen's official Chase Oaks web-site does not anywhere mention annexation of the property, only the purchase of the property, and lists the address of the golf course as in Plano. With this information, I believe the Chase Oaks golf course clause needs to be amended to only reference the acquisition of the golf course for use by residents of Allen, and as a "recreation facility", with no reference made to a change in the physical land area of Allen. Finally, I have not found any reference at all on the United States Census Bureau's web-site which supports any information about the area of the City of Allen. -- DTXBrian (talk) 22:09, 20 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

I live in Allen, and I'm pretty sure the place is here. 2605:6001:E011:AD00:6CE7:244C:7F58:5F81 (talk) 03:11, 31 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

Tornado

edit

Is the tornado really important enough for this page? It is incorrectly reported as the "first ever" tornado in Allen which is untrue. There was one in 1987 documented here= http://www4.ncdc.noaa.gov/cgi-win/wwcgi.dll?wwevent~ShowEvent~164633

and probably several others. 76.205.201.238 (talk) 00:16, 9 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

I agree. Seems like WP:Recentism with basically no effect on the city's history. Brian the Editor (talk) 01:32, 9 September 2010 (UTC)Antwort
I've removed it. Thanks for finding that source. Brian the Editor (talk) 20:16, 9 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Copied "History" Content from cityofallen.org

edit

Much of the "History" section was copied directly without attribution from http://www.cityofallen.org/living_here/history.htm . I've removed or edited some of it, but haven't addressed everything. Another source of info to draw from is the Texas State Historical Association and TSHA Online website : http://www.tshaonline.org/handbook/online/articles/hfa04 Skandha10104:02, 10 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
