I will be reviewing this (properly this time, don't worry). Sanfranciscogiants17 (talk) 11:46, 29 August 2021 (UTC)
References
edit- Reference 53 needs a date
- When you click the link, it says "Invalid date". I tried to find one using both the source code and Internet Archive, but no dice. — GhostRiver 23:02, 30 August 2021 (UTC)
- I've had that happen before too, with some articles. If you can't find one, I think it's more accurate to not put one than to try to guess (unless there's clear clues). Not a problem! Sanfranciscogiants17 (talk) 03:38, 31 August 2021 (UTC)

Lead
edit- ”his slender build limited the attention that Anderson received from college baseball recruiters” – “but his slender build limited attention from college baseball recruiters.”
- Erledigt — GhostRiver 23:02, 30 August 2021 (UTC)
- I’d take out the second-to-last sentence of the lead. It’s accurate, of course, but there’s no point in giving 2020 two sentences worth of coverage when 2017 and 2018 just get one sentence.
- Erledigt — GhostRiver 23:02, 30 August 2021 (UTC)
- Obviously this just happened, but mention he was released at the end of August.
- Erledigt — GhostRiver 23:02, 30 August 2021 (UTC)
Early life
edit- I’m guessing the answer is no, but do we know how old Anderson was when his parents divorced?
- Erledigt Missed it in the source! 12 years old! — GhostRiver 23:02, 30 August 2021 (UTC)
College career
edit- ”As he was smaller than many of his peers, standing at 5 ft 11 in (1.80 m) and weighing 140 pounds (64 kg), he did not receive many recruitment offers from college baseball teams, and committed to attend North Central Texas College.” – “As he was smaller than many of his peers, standing at 5 ft 11 in (1.80 m) and weighing 140 pounds (64 kg), he did not receive many recruitment offers from college baseball teams. He committed to attend North Central Texas College.”
- Erledigt — GhostRiver 23:02, 30 August 2021 (UTC)
- Any stats on his time at the University of Oklahoma?
- Erledigt — GhostRiver 23:02, 30 August 2021 (UTC)
Minor leagues
edit- Put (MLB) after first mention of Major League Baseball
- Erledigt — GhostRiver 23:02, 30 August 2021 (UTC)
- ” helping pitch the team to the 2009 Championship Series” – “helping the team reach the 2009 playoffs”
- Erledigt — GhostRiver 23:02, 30 August 2021 (UTC)
- ”June 7, after” – No comma needed.
- Erledigt — GhostRiver 23:02, 30 August 2021 (UTC)
- ”Rawhide as well, but” – No comma needed.
- Erledigt — GhostRiver 23:02, 30 August 2021 (UTC)
- I’d make the sentence about his father dying the second of the paragraph.
- Erledigt — GhostRiver 23:02, 30 August 2021 (UTC)
- Also, put a cite right after the quotation.
- Erledigt — GhostRiver 23:02, 30 August 2021 (UTC)
- Do we know what the 2012 injury was? (No worries if you don’t.)
- Couldn't find anything :/ — GhostRiver 23:02, 30 August 2021 (UTC)
- ” He led the Southern League with a 2.08 ERA in the early part of the season. In May, Anderson left a game against the Jackson Generals after only two innings and spent seven days on the disabled list.”
- Erledigt — GhostRiver 23:02, 30 August 2021 (UTC)
- ” where he proved a considerable force at the plate, starting 4–2 with a 0.69 ERA in his first six starts” – “where he began the season strongly, going 4—2 with a 0.69 ERA in his first six starts.”

Arizona Diamondbacks
edit- Perhaps link hits and run
- Erledigt — GhostRiver 23:25, 30 August 2021 (UTC)
- ” with a 9–7 record and a 4.01 ERA, with 105 strikeouts in 114+1⁄3 innings” – “with a 9–7 record, a 4.01 ERA, and 105 strikeouts in 114+1⁄3 innings.”
- Erledigt — GhostRiver 23:25, 30 August 2021 (UTC)
- Were the five starts in which he gave up 26 runs in July, or did this streak start in June?
- It's unclear, so I tried to reword. — GhostRiver 23:25, 30 August 2021 (UTC)
Milwaukee Brewers (2016-19)
edit- ”Isan Diaz, in exchange” – No comma needed
- Erledigt — GhostRiver 23:25, 30 August 2021 (UTC)
- ”and Jeremy Jeffress took the save” – “but Jeremy Jeffress got the save to preserve his win.”
- Erledigt — GhostRiver 23:25, 30 August 2021 (UTC)
- Link arbitration
- Erledigt — GhostRiver 23:25, 30 August 2021 (UTC)
- Clarify whether Anderson or the Brewers lost his arbitration hearing (I’m having a little trouble telling from the way the sentence is worded.)
- Erledigt — GhostRiver 23:25, 30 August 2021 (UTC)
- ”Anderson was pitching his career best season” – “Anderson was having the best season of his career”
- Erledigt — GhostRiver 23:25, 30 August 2021 (UTC)
- ”with Class A” – “with the Class A”
- Erledigt — GhostRiver 23:25, 30 August 2021 (UTC)
- ”However, he was unable to retain the momentum that he had built in 2017, and led the National League with 30 home runs allowed” – “However, he was unable to retain the momentum that he had built in 2017, as he went on to lead the National League with 30 home runs allowed”
- Erledigt — GhostRiver 23:25, 30 August 2021 (UTC)
- ”behind Jeff Samardzija” – “behind Jeff Samardzija’s” – Picky grammar thing, but you’re comparing his cutter to Samardzija’s cutter, not to Samardzija himself.
- Erledigt changed to "behind that of Jeff Samardzija" just so the sentence doesn't end on a possessive — GhostRiver 23:25, 30 August 2021 (UTC)
Toronto Blue Jays (2020)
edit- ” their starting rotation, and were” – “their starting rotation, and they were”
- Erledigt — GhostRiver 23:25, 30 August 2021 (UTC)
- ”Anderson stumbled” – “Anderson struggled”
- Erledigt — GhostRiver 23:25, 30 August 2021 (UTC)
- Mention he became a free agent, and link free agent.

Philadelphia Phillies (2021)
edit- ”Moore and Anderson were named to the starting rotation after injuries from Howard and Velasquez, but after a disappointing performance in his first eight starts, with a 6.96 ERA and no outs recorded past the fifth inning, the Phillies moved him to the bullpen on May 21.” “Moore and Anderson were named to the starting rotation at the beginning of the season following injuries to Howard and Velasquez. After Anderson had a disappointing performance in his first eight starts, with a 6.96 ERA and no outs recorded past the fifth inning, the Phillies moved him to the bullpen on May 21.”

- Link designated for assignment

Pitcher profile
edit- ”This consistent pitching approach has led Anderson to give up large numbers of home runs to opposing batters.” – More needs to be said about the approach other than it was consistent. Were hitters so used to facing his pitches that they knew how to hit him?
- Erledigt It's one fastball that gets him every time — GhostRiver 23:25, 30 August 2021 (UTC)
- ”Part of this process included watching videos of aces Max Scherzer and Nathan Eovaldi, and noting the idiosyncrasies they took to ensure that they were properly aligned with home plate before each pitch.” – “Part of this process included watching videos of aces Max Scherzer and Nathan Eovaldi. Anderson noted the idiosyncrasies they took to ensure that they were properly aligned with home plate before each pitch.”

Personal life
edit- When did he get married, and is there any information about his wife (other than her maiden name)?
- Erledigt Married in 2013, used to work as a realtor but quit because Chase's career was taking off — GhostRiver 23:25, 30 August 2021 (UTC)
- ”Anderson is a Baptist Christian. He credits his faith to his grandmother, Annette Anderson, with whom he attended both Baptist and United Methodist churches.” – “Anderson is a Baptist. He became a Christian through the influence of his grandmother, Annette Anderson, with whom he attended both Baptist and United Methodist churches.”
- Erledigt — GhostRiver 23:25, 30 August 2021 (UTC)
- ”Beginning in 2017” – Might be best to just put “In 2017”, especially since the players might not still be working on that in that area, now that they’re both in other places.
- Erledigt — GhostRiver 23:25, 30 August 2021 (UTC)
As usual, just a bunch of minor fixes. I didn’t really know much about Anderson, so I enjoyed learning about him from this article! Let me know when you’ve made the changes, and I’ll give the article another look! Sanfranciscogiants17 (talk) 12:26, 29 August 2021 (UTC)
- Sanfranciscogiants17 Changes addressed, with a couple of comments left. I was living in Wisconsin during his supposed career high year and was shocked when the Phils signed him, because he wasn't... great even then. (As a sidenote, if you do nominate Mays for FAC at some point soon, I'll definitely carve out time to leave comments.) — GhostRiver 23:25, 30 August 2021 (UTC)
- GhostRiver See, that's the nice thing about being a Giants fan. We can sign pitchers that aren't that impressive (Ryan Vogelsong, Anthony DeSclafani), then watch them magically transform into the league's best. Well, at least you all got Wheeler last year! Anyway, article looks good now - passing! Sanfranciscogiants17 (talk) 03:44, 31 August 2021 (UTC)
