There is a fair use rationale on the the image description page for Image:8500.jpg As stated I have no access to these vehicles at this time. If afree replacement becomes available I will of course use it. The company states in its FAQs http://www.internationaldelivers.com/site_layout/absolutefm/afmviewfaq.asp?faqid=7 that images may be used in a manner that is not detrimental to the company. This particular image is included in a section of the website for images that can be used in publications. Please do not accuse me of vandalism again.--Lpimlott 22:04, 3 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

November 2012 Update Section

I don't have time to update right now, but the information is outdated and refers to the old 8500 and 8600 offerings. No current Transtar models use Cat or Cummins engines, nor the 570 ci Navistar engine. Amp71 (talk) 15:19, 24 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Historical Variants

Should these trucks have their own article? The IHC and Navistar vehicles are completely unrelated mechanically and trucks like the International Harvester Loadstar, International Harvester Fleetstar, and International Harvester S-Series have their own articles, so this would not be an orphan. The title is only "Transtar", it doesn't lock in any closer. Edit: 1st gen (4070/4200/4300) and 2nd gen (8000)? In the new ones the "S" is capitalized (TranStar, DuraStar), maybe titles should be changed? That could be part of the difference between old model and new model articles. Agreed on that point. Although I still stand by my point at the top of the section, I think it would be best to make such a move by creating an article out of another rather than splitting two stubs. Split of article

At this point, this article needs to be split into two articles, with one covering the International Harvester Transtar trucks (produced from the 1960s-1980s, the ancestor to the International 9000 and International 9000 (COE)) and the other concerning the NGV-based regional tractor, renamed the International RH (currently produced).

The content related to the regional tractor is in desparate need of attention and has been tagged as such for 8 years now. Outside of content derived directly from the manufacturer website (almost too directly...), the modern 8000/Transtar has almost nothing posted about it. Even if this section was expanded in place, the section related to the IHC Transtar can stand on its own now and has room to expand (the International Loadstar and International Fleetstar]] do so and the Internatinal 9000 has undergone some reconstruction). --SteveCof00 (talk) 10:55, 1 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
