Return from exile?
editHi Tamzin, I would like to return to Wikipedia, but first I need to better understand your rationale for banning me. You criticized me for actions that I took in an attempt to improve Wikipedia's somewhat toxic culture, and I thought that everything I was doing was well within the bounds of the policies and guidelines. You accused me of stirring drama
, but I am still unclear how editors are supposed to resolve user conduct disputes without others finding such confrontation disruptive. I hope to once again be a productive contributor to the project. — Freoh 00:51, 4 March 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Freoh. I am no longer an admin, and am not participating in administrative discussions. You can submit an unblock request through the normal system. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (they|xe) 03:15, 4 March 2024 (UTC)

Request reason:
I believe that I was mistakenly blocked. An administrator blocked me for stirring drama
and declined to explain further. My intention was and is to productively contribute to Wikipedia and encourage a civil atmosphere of collaboration. I have heeded prior advice from administrators and focused on content for the most part. Banning editors who express minority opinions simply because other editors respond with personal attacks is counterproductive. — Freoh 13:03, 4 March 2024 (UTC)
Accept reason:
Let's try a trial run here. I have restored your access to the user talk namespace, that's what you wanted to do right now and hopefully that won't be too controversial. If that goes well, you may request unblock for the other spaces. 331dot (talk) 21:36, 4 March 2024 (UTC)
You are only blocked from the user talk, Wikipedia, and Wikipedia talk namespaces. What edits do you need to make in those namespaces? 331dot (talk) 13:58, 4 March 2024 (UTC)
- 331dot, I plan to use those namespaces in the same ways that other editors use them, similarly to how I used them before my expulsion: encouraging newcomers, contributing to consensus in centralized discussions, politely reminding others of the civility policy, awarding barnstars, removing personal attacks, et cetera. — Freoh 14:31, 4 March 2024 (UTC)
- That's a general answer; I was looking for a more specific answer. Is there a particular edit you want to make right now if you could? 331dot (talk) 15:44, 4 March 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, I would like to leave a farewell message at User talk:Larataguera, who seems to have left the project dispirited a few months after I was forced out. We were both trying to counter systemic bias on Wikipedia, and I had a lot of positive interactions with them. I hope to encourage them to return at some point. — Freoh 17:58, 4 March 2024 (UTC)

Request reason:
I would like to return to Wikipedia with the usual editing privileges. I hope to participate in centralized discussions such as WP:RFA2024/I and WP:NPOV/N. I will continue to adhere to WP:RUCD and other relevant policies, and I will continue to adhere to the guidance that administrators have given me in the past. I still would appreciate an administrator explanation for my original ban, as it seems that there is an unwritten stirring drama
exception to the WP:RUCD policy that should be clarified, so that future editors do not fall into the same trap. — Freoh 01:28, 5 March 2024 (UTC)
Decline reason:
You don't seem to understand why you were blocked. Without understanding that, it is likely you will return to the behavior that got you blocked in the first place. You also have not edited more than a handful of times since you were blocked. That does not give us any practical evidence of what your future edits will be like. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 20:47, 6 March 2024 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:
I would like to return to Wikipedia with the usual editing priviliges. Tamzin, I am sorry if my opposition to your administrative proposal came across as stirring drama
,[1][2] and in the future I can include an extra sentence designed to clarify my positive intentions, like I say this not to attack any administrator personally, but rather to voice potential negative effects of the proposed administrative action.
I can also try to make my discussions of user conduct more lighthearted using templates like {{Trout}}. Also, I did not realize that the policy forbade removing personal attacks from the talkpages of other users, so I will refrain from doing this in the future. I would like to once again be a productive contributor to the project, but not under a badge of shame that disrupts my access to centralized discussions like WP:NPOV/N and WP:RFA2024/I. — Freoh 02:07, 26 March 2024 (UTC)
Decline reason:
Nowhere in this unblock request do I see any evidence that you actually understand the reason for the block. JBW (talk) 21:17, 19 May 2024 (UTC)

- Your request is open and visible; what makes you think it isn't? 331dot (talk) 18:33, 28 March 2024 (UTC)
- DeltaQuadBot did not include me in User:AmandaNP/unblock table, so I was unsure if administrators would see my request. If you say that it is visible, then I assume someone will get to it eventually. Thanks for the confirmation! — Freoh 18:43, 28 March 2024 (UTC)
- (Non-administrator comment) hmm that's interesting. An admin still hasn't declined or accepted. Never seen that before. thetechie@enwiki: ~/talk/ $ 03:25, 15 May 2024 (UTC)

- JBW, my understanding of my block is that a former administrator misinterpreted my attempts to call out incivility as attempts to stir drama, and I have proposed changes to my future behavior that I hope will avoid these kinds of misunderstandings. Is there something else that you would like to see here? Are there other behavioral changes that you would like to see? — Freoh 16:59, 21 May 2024 (UTC)

editIt named you too, but I was pinging as I read, and decided to stop, there was so many people. I look forward to read about it in The Signpost, and who knows, perhaps there'll be a Grabowski/Klein style arbcom case. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 17:19, 26 May 2024 (UTC)
US
editThank you for your thank lol, if you agree w me could you please offer your thoughts or support as I want that discussion to take a more constructive route Alexanderkowal (talk) 18:53, 3 June 2024 (UTC)
- I agree with your proposal but fear the US nationalist reaction. Administrators sent threatening messages when I tried to add some postcolonial balance to similar disagreements in the past.[1] Good luck! — Freoh 19:33, 3 June 2024 (UTC)
- The discussions at a tipping point at the moment, just a comment saying I generally approve however are unsure on the particular wording or content would go a long way but dw lol Alexanderkowal (talk) 19:47, 3 June 2024 (UTC)
- Was it the same guy? He appears to have had a history of warnings about personal attacks and bullying. I might report him if he doesn’t act up soon Alexanderkowal (talk) 11:14, 4 June 2024 (UTC)
- No Alexanderkowal, but Wikipedia is full of similar editors. The regulars at WP:ANI/I tend to deny colonialism and can be quite rude, especially if you try to call attention to their incivility. I tried to report conduct problems in similar situations, and ended up with a block:[1]
I agree that the conduct against you at Talk:United States is inappropriate and goes against both the letter and spirit of Wikipedia policy, but I cannot back you up if you take this to a noticeboard. — Freoh 19:21, 4 June 2024 (UTC)Editors and administrators who were unfamiliar with Freoh were now aware of them through the way they had been described by settler nationalists. In July Freoh was blocked by Tamzin, an administrator, 'for persistent disruption ... after warnings by three admins across two massive [Administrator's Noticeboard] threads' and edits that 'consist almost entirely of stirring drama.' Freoh's history at administrator's noticeboards, and the narrative constructed there by settler nationalists, follow the strategies utilized to remove editors who settler nationalists disagree with. Content disputes were turned into conduct disputes, Freoh was accused of pushing a specific point of view and righting great wrongs, settler nationalists suggested banning Freoh, and administrators did so. Freoh's suggested content was never added, the pages Freoh sought to edit read as they did before Freoh intervened, and Freoh was erased from Wikipedia.
- That’s okay I understand. I think we’re making some headway to work more constructively Alexanderkowal (talk) 19:33, 4 June 2024 (UTC)
- He’s only criticised phrasing and motives, not the content Alexanderkowal (talk) 19:34, 4 June 2024 (UTC)
- Just keep trying to work constructively and collaboratively and try to see the other persons POV and discern valid points Alexanderkowal (talk) 19:38, 4 June 2024 (UTC)
