Made a mistake?

• You can restore a previously saved version.

PDF for "GLSL Programming in Unity" book

Hi Dirk, I moved the link to the Unity subpage because the book you generated only covers that part. Thanks for generating it; there are a couple of things that I don't like about the layout (apparently I'm not using the correct hierarchy level, the table of contents, some tables and links are not well formatted, the code part uses a different width and therefore has some additional line breaks, etc.); thus, I'll probably stick to the Collection PDF Generator. Templates for Wikibook LaTeX

Hi Dirk, I just noticed you are back to Wikibooks and commited some changes recently. First thanks for your contributions. I just wanted to point out that for the sake of consistency templates should be used throughout this book instead of manual formatting. They are all documented on the talk page. I had quite a hard time to turn to templates all the manual formatting in the first 2 parts :/

For instance LaTeX/Introducing Procedural Graphics would need a LaTeX/Example template instead of the old, unreliable source/image combo. It would be great if you could update your last contributions. Thanks! --Ambrevar (discuss • contribs) 16:36, 11 March 2013 (UTC)

First of all I will keep on working on the pdf version, this will hopefully be finisched in a hour or two. Then I will add the templates. PDF for "Sensory Systems" book

Hi Dirk,

first of all, thanks for your effort and contribution. It looks really good!

There are three questions I have for you:

1. I could not find the LaTex "attached" to the PDF. To be frank, I don't understand how a PDF can have an attachment.
2. I did not get the email. Could you please re-send it to thomas.haslwanter at gmail.com?
3. Could you tell me how you have don it? I have previously tried your "m2l", but had difficulty compiling the generated code with my LaTex converter. When I tried to modify "main.tex", I also eventually gave up, and used the wikibook compilations instead. Any hints there?

In the imprint of the PDF, that is on the second page of the PDF file, I explained how to extract the attachment. It is possible though not always easy to compile the code with your LaTeX compiler. At first I make use of many different packages and secondly I use my own font to be able to cover full 16 bit unicode. I recommend to use the compiler included in m2l since it contains already all these parts. I also wrote an Installation instruction for to help myself when needing to install these parts on my ubuntu machine, it is probably not complete and also has to change with each new version of ubuntu de:Benutzer:Dirk Huenniger/wb2pdf/ubuntu microtype, I usually need one day to install using that instruction. Sorry if this is not the right place or the adequate way to say that (I'm still getting used to the wikis), but it seems there is a corrupted uploaded latex book pdf or something like that? Wikibook "Blender - From Noob to Pro" (BFNP) Rendering

Hi,

you stated on the BFNP discussion site that you rendered the book externally due to the broken Collection Creator. This tool seems not to be maintained anymore (no new Feedback posts since 2013). Could you explain, how you rendered the book externally (perhaps directly on the BFNP discussion site)? (edit: Read the latest discussion entry) Do you have any nice idea on how to automate the process via the Wikimedia servers / repair the Collection creator? As you are the only known person which converted the book in the latest time, it could save you a waste amount of time because you would not be bothered with generation requests. I am sorry but I do find the latest discussion entry you are trying to point me at. The tool mediawiki2latex is written and still maintained by me. And I also saw a post on the discussion page of BFNP which explained how I generated the pdf file. I am not the person who can help you with installation of software on wikimedias servers since I am totally independent of Wikimedia. You need to talk to wikimedia and ask them to install the my software on their servers which is legally possibly since my software is open source, but it totally up to them which software they install on their servers. mediawiki2latex even has got a server mode, so you can just rent you own server and install it on there. Template:LaTeXExport improvement

Halo, I would like to use your template simply like the other similar templates, but the slashes are interpreted by the site. Is there any way to avoid to paste the current wiki page URL on it please? JackPotte (discuss • contribs) 17:21, 6 July 2017 (UTC)

Hi,

The webserver takes an encoded version of the url. So to reach what you want you have to encode the url on the wiki side. This might be possible with lua somehow. Otherwise you have to supply the encoded version of the url when using the template, which is indeed not ideal.

About the PDF

So I've downloaded the PDF engendered from MySQL/Print version.

• Why it's called 19.pdf instead of MySQL.pdf please?
• Why the cover is considered as the page n°1 in the "Contents" and titles?

Hi,

the filename is just an integer that is counted up by one for each document created. This way I can insure that every user gets his/her PDF and not the pdf of someone else. The page numbering is rather arbitrary, but still I think that assigning the number one to the first page of the pdf document is quite an acceptable choice.--Dirk Hünniger (discuss • contribs) 17:43, 6 July 2017 (UTC)

Haskell needs updating.

Thanks for your pdf versions of the Haskell book. There seem to be a few corrections to the source, so the pdfs need updating. Any chance that you could find time to do that?
