The 2024 World Para Ice Hockey Championships was the 13th edition of World Para Ice Hockey Championships (originally named IPC Ice Sledge Hockey World Championships) held in 2024. The tournament was held in Calgary, Alberta in Canada from 4 to 12 May.[1][2]

Canada won their fifth title on home soil, defeating the United States, 2–1, in an upset in the final.[3]

Format

[edit]

The teams are once again divided into two groups based on their ranking, however contrary to previous years, the top 2 teams in each group go to the Semi-Finals. The bottom 2 teams in each group will play in the 5–8th place Semi-Finals.

Teams

[edit]

Japan and Slovakia were promoted to Pool A after finishing first and second respectively in Pool B. They both replace Norway and Germany, who both were relegated. For the first time ever, the top division boasts three Asian teams.[1][2]
