Carullah Efendi

Veliyyuddin Carullah Efendi (1660-1738) was an Ottoman.[1] Hanafi[1] jurist[1][2] and theologian.[1][2] He wrote works on hadith, fiqh, creed, tafsir, logic, mysticism and astronomy.[1]

Works

Carullah Efendi wrote a significant amount of work on a variety of topics. These include:

  • Tuḥfetü'l-erîb[1]; treatise on a theological debate in Fakhr al-Din al-Razi's work Mefâtîḥu'l-ġayb.[1]
  • Ḥâşiye ʿalâ Câmiʿi'r-rumûz[1]; annotation of a work on Hanafi jurisprudence.[1]
  • Ḥâşiye ʿalâ Şerḥi Ḥikmeti'l-ʿayn[1]; commentary on a work on logic.[1]
  • Hâşiye alâ Şerhi'l-Hidaye fi'l-hikme;[3] a work dealing with philosophy, in which Carulla Efendi defends the philosophers Ibn Sina and al-Farabi from accusations of heresy[3][4]
