This category includes people with strong links—either by birth or by association—to the Kingdom of Sardinia. This category is for people from The Kingdom of Sardinia from 1297 until 1861. After about 1720 it includes areas in the mainland of Italy and is often called Sardinia-Piedmont. It's mainland holdings expanded to also include Liguria during much of the early 19th-century. It's mainland territory also included at times both Savoy and the area around Nice that would be incorporated into France in the 1860s. For those from the mainland areas that became part of the Kingdom of Sardinia in 1720 before that date see Category:People from the Savoyard state.
