James Michael Cline, better known by the name J. Michael Cline, was an American businessman and entrepreneur best known for founding the company Fandango Media.

Early life and education

James Michael Cline was born in New York.[1] His mother, Rose Marie Cline, worked at the Lamont–Doherty Earth Observatory, while his father, James G. Cline, worked with Dames & Moore.[2] Cline completed undergraduate studies at Cornell University and received his Masters of Business Administration from Harvard Business School.[3]

Career

With Art Levitt, Cline founded Fandango Media in 2000, a company that sells movie tickets online.[1] Fandango, along with MovieTickets.com, led the industry for many years.[4]

Later life and death

Cline died on July 16, 2024 in New York, after committing suicide by jumping from height.[1]
