IHO S-23 link change again
Hello,

The IHO (again) changed the link to the standard document S-23 Limits of the Oceans and the Seas from

<blockquote>
http://www.iho.int/iho_pubs/standard/S-23/S-23_Ed3_1953_EN.pdf
</blockquote>

to

<blockquote>
https://iho.int/uploads/user/pubs/standards/s-23/S-23_Ed3_1953_EN.pdf
</blockquote>.

Would somebody (somebotty?) please run this on the (currently 174) pages which match
<blockquote>
insource:"http://www.iho.int/iho_pubs/standard/S-23/S-23_Ed3_1953_EN.pdf"
</blockquote>? --Nomentz (talk) 18:18, 28 December 2020 (UTC)

Revision as of 18:18, 28 December 2020

This page is for AWB'ers who can't find anything to put it to use on, or who would like to help others with this powerful tool.

Below are tasks for which a page-autoloader with various capabilities would be especially useful. That is, the people posting these tasks need the help of AWB'ers! If you have AWB, please lend a hand. Note that Link Ninja may also be useful for completing the tasks on this list (see WP:OTS#Tabs and tabbing).

Please note that Wikipedia:Bot requests sometimes has one-time tasks which can be done easily using AWB.

See also Wikipedia:WikiProject Check Wikipedia.

Putting in a request to update all links pointed to TBS Television to instead point to Tokyo Broadcasting System Television after a page move – there are apparently 765 of them. The former currently redirects to the latter, but it should instead point to the disambigation page as per WP:INCDAB. Once the links have been updated, that can happen. Thanks. --IJBall (contribstalk) 17:28, 6 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

 Doing...  On hold AWB (and Special:WhatLinksHere/TBS Television) seem to find only 656 pages instead of 765. Regardless, I'll start right now with the found pages. Chlod (say hi!) 18:00, 6 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
IJBall, should the link label remain as is ("TBS Television") or should it also be changed to "Tokyo Broadcasting System Television"?
 • (a) TBS Televsion to Tokyo Broadcasting System Television
 • (b) TBS Television to TBS Television
Chlod (say hi!) 18:02, 6 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Chlod: That's a good question... Probably safest to change the link and label to "Tokyo Broadcasting System Television" (option (a)) – if anyone wants to pipe the link after the switch, that's up to them. Thanks! --IJBall (contribstalk) 18:06, 6 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Got it!  Doing... Chlod (say hi!) 18:07, 6 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Just keep in mind that anything that is piped should keep its existing pipe. Primefac (talk) 18:55, 6 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, I made sure. Chlod (say hi!) 18:56, 6 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@IJBall:  Done, with 582 total edits. Skipped Wikipedia and User namespaces, hence the lower-than-expected number. Chlod (say hi!) 19:33, 6 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Score element malfunction

Do to an apparent security problem, the part of the <score> element that allows the score to be played through MIDI is currently disabled, and it seems is likely to be so for quite a while. See Help talk:Score#Error message. The display feature is still working; however, if the score is set to allow MIDI, it will display an error message instead of showing the score, so that attribute needs to be commented out, like this, in order for the score to be visible. There are a little over 1000 pages that use this element: they are listed at Special:PagesWithProp/score. Would it be possible using AWB to go through those pages and replace "vorbis" with "%vorbis%" and "vorbis=1" with "%vorbis=1%"? And then if this gets fixed perhaps it could be run in reverse? Or would this be better as a bot request? Thanks. blameless 18:44, 8 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Would it be better to replace these elements by a new template which can be set temporarily to fail gracefully then edited in once place whenever the problem status requires? Certes (talk) 20:17, 8 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
It would to me, since templates I understand and I'm not sure I even get what "score" is--an "extension," I guess, whatever that means. Also, I realize now this is more complicated than I said above, because the "sound" attribute produces the same problem as the "vorbis" one. So that would need to be commented out also. blameless 20:42, 8 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
To judge by Help:Score, we could replace <score vorbis="1" foo="bar"> by which discards any vorbis parameter (because Comments in the markup start with a percentage sign % and end at the end of the line) and copies the rest of the verbiage into a <score> tag. Then vorbis can be re-enabled when possible just by having the template treat it like any other parameter. I've tried that idea here but can't get it to work. There may be a timing issue that the score tag is evaluated (and found to be absent) before the template magic happens. Certes (talk) 22:29, 8 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Certes, it doesn't work because score doesn't exist (or rather, it did exist, but was deleted because it was being used for sports scores).
That being said, I don't see any reason why we couldn't re-create it to call <score> (we have similar variants for nowiki, code, and syntaxhighlight). Primefac (talk) 11:06, 9 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I should have been clearer. For the purposes of the test, I previewed creation of a new Template:Score with the code I linked, which calls score. I didn't save it, to avoid confusing editors who might have used what I'd written in the hope that it actually worked. Certes (talk) 13:05, 9 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The 141 subcategories of Category:Syrian Civil War which are listed here, would someone be willing to tag their pages with ? Thanks in advance. Marcocapelle (talk) 21:38, 21 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
