Bulk U1 delete

I created User:Nyttend/ZIP for a project that's now complete. It has fifty-one subpages, and I'd like to get all fifty-two deleted. Could you help?

Thanks! Nyttend (talk) 21:51, 23 April 2024 (UTC)

Sadly AWB even for admins does not have the delete ability, can you use Special:Nuke or do you want us to just place the U1 tag? Geardona (talk to me?) 21:58, 23 April 2024 (UTC)
Sorry, I thought AWB deletion was an option. Don't worry about it. Nyttend (talk) 22:07, 23 April 2024 (UTC)
This is probably moot now, but the 'delete' button mentioned under WP:AWB/UM#View & in WP:JWB#Deleting made me think that deleting pages in AWB/JWB was possible for admins. All the best, ‍—‍a smart kitten[meow] 07:03, 25 April 2024 (UTC)
Yes, it is possible. – DreamRimmer (talk) 07:14, 25 April 2024 (UTC)
Really? Huh I never saw that part. Thanks and sorry! Geardona (talk to me?) 10:25, 25 April 2024 (UTC)
No problem, let me know if you need anything else! Sorry I couldn't help! Geardona (talk to me?) 22:10, 23 April 2024 (UTC)
Twinkle has a d-batch option; I'll take care of it in a mo'. Primefac (talk) 11:30, 24 April 2024 (UTC)

Can all links to The Boy Is Mine (song) (which is a redirect due to a RM I closed) be changed to The Boy Is Mine (Brandy and Monica song), so that the original can be redirected to the DAB page The Boy Is Mine? Thanks Anguswiki (talk) 19:46, 24 April 2024 (UTC)

Working: building regex now, expect completion of the task in about an hour. Geardona (talk to me?) 23:21, 24 April 2024 (UTC)
Done with content namespaces, I left the talk pages be. Geardona (talk to me?) 00:28, 25 April 2024 (UTC)
@Geardona Can you lend me the regex that you used for this task? Maybe place it on your user subpage, I've been a bit lazy lately, lol. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 08:10, 25 April 2024 (UTC)
Done on my new little AWB log User:Geardona/AWB log Geardona (talk to me?) 10:47, 25 April 2024 (UTC)
Oh, thank you so much! Vanderwaalforces (talk) 10:22, 27 April 2024 (UTC)

Tag templates for TfD

Please could someone tag the templates listed at Wikipedia:Templates for discussion/Log/2024 April 29#WIR wrapper templates with {{subst:tfd|heading=WIR wrapper templates}}? Thanks — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 11:44, 29 April 2024 (UTC)

@MSGJ, Doing. – DreamRimmer (talk) 11:46, 29 April 2024 (UTC)

Null edit everything in Category:Templates using CatAutoTOC

Would someone with TPE/the mop be able to null edit (i.e. save without making any changes whatsoever) the 43 templates in Category:Templates using CatAutoTOC? It has been sitting in Category:Wikipedia non-empty soft redirected categories for ~24 hours without decreasing at all. The job queue should be naturally emptying the category, but given it has not decreased at all I suspect something might be have gone wrong. A null edit will automatically force the page to recache itself, and move it from Category:Templates using CatAutoTOC to Category:Templates using Automatic category TOC. HouseBlaster (talk · he/him) 03:24, 11 May 2024 (UTC)

 Done. – Jonesey95 (talk) 03:54, 11 May 2024 (UTC)

Google garbage added to URLs

Weird URLs. Garbage characters need to be removed from URLs. They are in 348 pages. I think this could be a regex search-replace. -- GreenC 02:52, 24 April 2024 (UTC)

I'll see if I can write something to get this done when I get home. Rusty4321 talk contribs 18:04, 16 May 2024 (UTC)

Doing... - fixing cdn.ampproject.org URLs... Still working on the regexes. They could use some more work. Rusty4321 talk contribs 00:18, 17 May 2024 (UTC) (Edited Rusty4321 talk contribs 00:25, 17 May 2024 (UTC))

I have recently created stub articles for both Champion Data and AFL Tables, which are major statistical players in the Australian Football League and have been referenced consistently across Wikipedia.

I am now please seeking an automation to add wikilinks to all instances of each phrase on Wikipedia.

I understand the second request is quite arduous! I hope there is not much human intervention required here; it shouldn't be the case as they are mostly part of citations / references. Please let me know if there is anything else required on my end. Thank you! Gibbsyspin 13:37, 22 April 2024 (UTC)

I think that, to avoid CONTEXTBOT issues, the approach here is to only touch instances in citations, where afltables.com is present elsewhere within the ref tags. Probably could be done with an AWB bot. Would need a BRfA. Snowmanonahoe (talk · contribs · typos) 15:04, 22 April 2024 (UTC)
The AFL Tables article is two days old and already has a WP:GNG tag. Linking it 13,000 times should probably wait until it's avoided deletion for a couple of months. Aspirex (talk) 13:17, 23 April 2024 (UTC)
The AFL Tables article has now been userfied with a view to merging into an as yet unwritten article about AFL analytics. The current request related to AFL Tables should go on hold. We will revisit in the future with a request to wikilink all instances of AFL Tables to a section or anchor within that future article. Aspirex (talk) 11:59, 20 May 2024 (UTC)

Error in Women in Red newsletter

Hello friends, as per this kind message from @Jonesey95, an error crept in the most recent Women in Red newsletter, see this diff. Would someone be able to fix it. I'm aware there have been a couple more of these syntax errors over the past year or so. I'm going install the Syntax highlighter myself, and encourage other team members who write the invitations to do so too. Many thanks to the AWB cm=ommunity for your help! Lajmmoore (talk) 07:18, 29 May 2024 (UTC)

I could fix this super easily, although it really shouldn’t be done by anyone without a bot flag. (It would trigger notifications) (just use this no regex needed '''''[[Find a Grave]]'''-> '''[[Find a Grave]]''' ) Geardona (talk to me?) 11:06, 29 May 2024 (UTC)
Looks like around 1400 pages affected in user talk space. Lajmmoore, if you know of other specific Signpost issues list them here and I'll see about getting a BRFA filed. Primefac (talk) 11:54, 29 May 2024 (UTC)
There is this one also, from November 2023. – Jonesey95 (talk) 13:17, 29 May 2024 (UTC)
BRFA running. Might miss a few pages but the bulk should get sorted. Primefac (talk) 13:39, 29 May 2024 (UTC)

Add references to a list-defined references section

In the articles List of nearest giant stars and list of nearest supergiants, i suggest moving all references to a list-defined references section, in order to avoid cluttering the text and make the article better to edit with source editor. InTheAstronomy32 (talk) 19:12, 29 May 2024 (UTC)

@InTheAstronomy32: Have you gained consensus for it on the talk pages yet? Rusty4321 talk contribs 22:12, 29 May 2024 (UTC)
No, but i am the page creator and this change will have no difference for readers. InTheAstronomy32 (talk) 22:16, 29 May 2024 (UTC)
This sounds more like a task to be done by hand, only two articles need editing if I understand?@InTheAstronomy32 Geardona (talk to me?) 00:48, 30 May 2024 (UTC)
@Geardona: Over 75 references in each article. Doesn't necessarily need AWB though.
For anyone interested, here's a general idea of I think how this would go:
  • Match a named reference. (process it so that you get two variables, the reference name and the ref body.)
  • Replace the match with a named reference invocation. (is that what it is called?)
  • Append the reference to the reflist.
Rusty4321 talk contribs 01:33, 30 May 2024 (UTC)
Having done this on a similar article and a half-dozen others, I can say that the easiest way to do it is just cut/paste the references into a text document (leaving behind the named ref tag itself) and then copy/paste the final list back into the article. I don't think AWB will make it any easier, and you'll spend more time coding it than just doing it by hand. Primefac (talk) 11:41, 30 May 2024 (UTC)

Requesting Tag for other categories

I've tagged a category for deletion at Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2024_June_4#Category:Crime_action_films. I would like all of its sub-categories also nominated for the same reason (I've listed them at the discussion request). I was suggested to come here to get that done and so they point to the above discussion so we don't have dozens of scattered requests. Is that possible? Andrzejbanas (talk) 12:10, 5 June 2024 (UTC)

Doing – DreamRimmer (talk) 12:16, 5 June 2024 (UTC)
DreamRimmer, apologies for treading on your toes, but would you mind if I could test my script for this (User:Qwerfjkl/scripts/massXFD.js)? — Qwerfjkltalk 12:38, 5 June 2024 (UTC)
Sure, no problem. I only did two; you can do the rest. – DreamRimmer (talk) 12:40, 5 June 2024 (UTC)
DreamRimmer, thanks. Luckily no bugs.
Done, tagged 38 (remaining) categories and notified 7 users. — Qwerfjkltalk 12:46, 5 June 2024 (UTC)
Yeah, I checked the edits. Looks great! Thanks for this script. – DreamRimmer (talk) 12:49, 5 June 2024 (UTC)

Request for syntax error fix on recent WP:GOCE mass message

This is a request to apply this syntax error fix to the User Talk pages listed at Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Mailing List. We at the Guild of Copy Editors mistakenly sent out a mass message with four unbalanced bold tags to 760 pages. Thanks to anyone who can take it on. – Jonesey95 (talk) 18:23, 10 June 2024 (UTC)

I can take a look at this when I get home from school. Rusty4321 talk contribs 19:49, 10 June 2024 (UTC)
Thanks. This might also be a good task for a bot. Maybe Primefac if they have time. There are more mass messages out there like this. – Jonesey95 (talk) 01:20, 11 June 2024 (UTC)
Yeah, I filed a BRFA a few hours ago, but it hasn't received a response yet. I have pywikibot basically ready to go. Rusty4321 talk contribs 01:26, 11 June 2024 (UTC)
BRFA is not a fast process. Primefac (talk) 10:46, 11 June 2024 (UTC)
@Primefac: Sorry for the misunderstanding; I didn't mean to say it was a fast process, but just wanted to say that I hadn't received a BAG response on my BRFA. Rusty4321 talk contribs 16:43, 11 June 2024 (UTC)
