Duplicates?

[edit]

@Justlettersandnumbers: Since you have the book(s) for these names, can you please check to see if any are alternate spellings of others? For example, these two may be the same: Lichuan/Lijiang. Or maybe these: Jiangchang/Zhongdian. Since these are romanizations of a non-roman language, and because there are no articles for many on this list, there might well be duplicates.   ▶ I am Grorp ◀ 09:05, 13 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, Grorp, it's very likely. It's taken several hours to get it to even this poor state; I plan to do more, but not necessarily immediately. The names given in this paper are different in several cases from those I've used, for example. At this stage I'd prefer to have some duplicates than to "merge" two different breeds based on similarities in transliterations of a language I don't speak. For example, a moment's research shows that the Lijiang is from Yunnan and the Lichuan from Hubei (per the refs in the list). Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 11:01, 13 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
