Stonebriar Community Church[1] is a nondenominational evangelical megachurch in Frisco, Texas, a northern suburb of Dallas, Texas. The church was founded in 1998 by a group of individuals including Senior Pastor Chuck Swindoll, whose sermons are broadcast worldwide on the radio program Insight for Living.

History[edit]

On a warm autumn evening in 1998, a group of people met to discuss and pray about forming a church in the center of Frisco, Texas. United by their mission, which included Pastor Chuck Swindoll, the group successfully established Stonebriar Community Church.

After just six months, 1,500 people were attending worship services at their temporary location—a community college. By February 2001, the church opened the doors of its first worship center, and the church campus was completed with a new worship center in 2008 and a dedicated children’s building in 2010. By 2022, the church had fully paid off its land and buildings, remaining debt-free.

From its inception, Stonebriar Community Church has aimed to be a family devoted to biblical truth, Christ-centered service, and a grace-filled community. The church's stated purpose is to glorify God by encouraging all people to pursue a lifelong, joyous relationship with Jesus Christ.

God's Grace Leads Onward[edit]

In October 2023, Stonebriar Community Church celebrated its 25th anniversary, having grown into a community of 3,700 weekly participants and more than 11,000 online worshippers across over 50 countries. The church hosts more than 180 ministries, using its resources to serve people of all ages, needs, and stages of life.

A new chapter began in May 2024 when Pastor Chuck Swindoll assumed the role of Founding Pastor and Jonathan Murphy joined the staff as the new Senior Pastor. Throughout its history, the church has remained committed to teaching and studying Scripture, proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and continuing its mission to love God and love others, because ... "God first loved us." (1 John 4:19)
