Pittsburg?

FYI: Make sure you read reference #1 before you go changing the name of the city, like I almost did. I assumed it was a misspelling but then I saw the reference there explaining it. Pretty interesting. Frank12 (talk) 20:20, 16 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

There's no need to use the obsolete spelling. The club at the time had "Pittsburgh" on its letterhead, tickets, contracts, etc. (No city name was on the jerseys, contrary to depictions on baseball cards.) Also using the final 'h' were the city's government, chamber of commerce, public library, main university, and four of the local newspapers (Gazette Times, Chronicle Telegraph, Post, Sun). Decisions of the US Board on Geographic Names are officially binding only within the federal government (e.g., post offices). –Phleg1 (talk) 18:15, 20 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
