Restore US style
[edit]This article was started in April 2016 with US style dates and spelling, because the rapper was seen as coming from Atlanta, Georgia, US, and because the rapper was seen as American. The US style of the biography continued for several years, changing only recently when his created persona was revealed to be false, that he had been born in the UK and was in the US illegally.
However, the topic is still an American topic, being the biography of a rapper who first gained fame in Atlanta, with primarily American fans, creating music in American studios with American colleagues and collaborators. The note at the top saying that this is a British style article should be removed. Binksternet (talk) 21:58, 14 April 2019 (UTC)
- Change it back expeditiously. It should have never been changed as a result of a criminal allegation. Trillfendi (talk) 22:12, 14 April 2019 (UTC)
- I completely agree. The topic is much more of interest to American readers than British ones, and originally used American-style dates and spellings. —BarrelProof (talk) 23:42, 14 April 2019 (UTC)
When I open the article for editing, a banner shows up that says "This article is written in British English, …". Normally, this would be caused by a {{Use British English}} template, but I found no such template in the article. What could be causing that? It is obviously inappropriate. —BarrelProof (talk) 15:08, 23 April 2019 (UTC)
- I noticed that as well. I presumed only an administrator could remove it. Trillfendi (talk) 15:20, 23 April 2019 (UTC)
I'm here via the Helpdesk question: It's an Edit Notice. Rather than get involved, I'll ping @Koavf: seeing as they placed the edit notice on the article. - X201 (talk) 15:28, 23 April 2019 (UTC)
I can change it, sure. ―Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 15:39, 23 April 2019 (UTC)
- Thank you both. I had never heard of edit notices before. —BarrelProof (talk) 01:03, 24 April 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks Koavf. Binksternet (talk) 02:04, 24 April 2019 (UTC)
The date format was changed to British style again by Skyfall on 17 August 2020. I just reverted that. The topic is still primarily of interest to U.S. readers, MOS:DATETIES applies, and aspects that have been agreed in Talk page discussions should not be unilaterally overturned. —BarrelProof (talk) 19:30, 5 September 2020 (UTC)
"Mumble rap"?
[edit]Why is he categorized as "mumble rap" in the infobox, when he even discredits the term in the reference? People in the south have their own drawl, it isn't mumbling, it would seem the term is just thrown around to describe any new school rapper by bitter old rappers, à la Eminem, and even then I don't remember them ever calling Lil Wayne 'mumble rap'. Will someone remove it? I consider it inappropriate, thank you. 2A02:C7D:892B:3D00:84DD:9704:66F4:1DD4 (talk) 22:10, 1 May 2019 (UTC)
- Done I removed it, because that term was described in the cited source only as something said by his detractors. It is also described in the Mumble rap article as a disputed and generally pejorative term. —BarrelProof (talk) 00:56, 3 May 2019 (UTC)

21 got shot
[edit]Hey, why doesn’t anyone mention that he was shot six times Yoltzinrogel823 (talk) 23:37, 10 June 2021 (UTC)
- They did. The last sentence of the Early Life section: " In 2013, during an attempted robbery on his 21st birthday, 21 Savage was shot six times by rival gang members and his best friend Johnny was killed."Crboyer (talk) 23:39, 10 June 2021 (UTC)

The rest of the story
[edit]- Inquiring minds want to know. In the "Legal issues and controversies" section it seems "the rest of the story" could be explained.
- "Drug conviction" subsection: Record was expunged. "21 Savage's only conviction, a 2014 federal drug charge, was expunged from his record in September 2018".
- "Arrest on immigration charges" subsection: 21 Savage released on bond case still pending.
- "Theft by deception charges" subsection: DA dropped the case.
- Lawsuits subsection: Rappers Drake, 21 Savage settle with Conde Nast over fake Vogue cover. -- Otr500 (talk) 20:46, 4 March 2023 (UTC)

the reason for the name "21 savage" is that on his 21th birthday, he was shot 6 times, but he still survived like a "savage". Editss-you. (talk) 17:10, 15 October 2023 (UTC)
