Intro

The last sentence in the introduction reads: "Contrary to popular belief it [ADIA] is NOT responsible for investing any of the Abu Dhabi government's oil revenues and assets in countries across the world." But further on, the article states that ADIA "manages the emirate’s excess oil reserves." Aren't these statements contradictory? Can anyone explain? 208.120.84.99 (talk) 01:46, 18 November 2007 (UTC)

  • The statements aren't necessarily contradictory, ADIA could manages the reserves themselves without being responsible for the investment of the revenues abroad. They might be responsible only for domestic investment of the assets and revenues. However, two things I would change are 1. Uncapitalizing "NOT". Doesn't seem to be very encyclopedic, but rather a person speaking. Also, 2. Each of those statements should be sourced if possible, as the article also says there is a veil of secrecy surrounding them and numbers are not published. If that is the case, how can either "Fact" about their role be established? --Exodio (talk) 17:51, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
ADIA is the world's largest sovereign wealth fund and is, in fact, the world's largest investor in emerging markets. Whoever wrote that ADIA is "NOT responsible" for investing any of Abu Dhabi's oil revenues in countries across the world is either mistaken, or trying to assert some technicality in a very cryptic fashion. I'm going to delete the sentence pretty soon, as it just makes no sense. 66.65.43.42 (talk) 03:17, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
Aha - I believe the problem here is that this article's title is "Abu Dhabi Investment Authority" (ADIA), a sovereign wealth fund, but the article itself only talks about the "Abu Dhabi Investment Company" - a separate entity, which is just a publicly owned bank. We have two different entities here, and they should have two different articles. 66.65.43.42 (talk) 03:26, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
To confuse issue further, if you're going to talk about ADIA you'll need to draw the distinction between ADIA being little more than (as the name implies) an authority which manages the Abu Dhabi Investment Council, which is now the true investor, and that these investments are market based only. All industry direct investment whether foreign or domestic is handled by separate authorities. 195.229.235.41 (talk) 08:04, 23 August 2008 (UTC)

In the history, the earlier write up on ADIA (as of circa March 2007)is currently unavailable. This article looks like a piece written by an ADIA representative working in a manner such as to obfuscate facts. The link redirects viewers to an article on an entity that is not the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 125.22.249.124 (talk) 05:59, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

Photo

The current photo is a poor one. The ADIA building is that tall one way in the background, but I don't think most people would assume so looking at this photo. These tent-like buildings are not part of the ADIA, and are nowhere near the ADIA. 66.65.43.42 (talk) 03:28, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

Residential real estate

I removed the reference to residential real estate as it was unsourced and I know it is incorrect. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 141.228.106.150 (talk) 10:20, 9 March 2011 (UTC)
