How-to

[edit]

I removed the "how-to" list from the article, because Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information. A better place to add recipes and guides for making Akutaq would be Cookbook on Wikibooks --Miskwito 08:03, 11 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

this looks absolutely disgusting — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.2.17.87 (talk) 07:06, 17 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

ᐊᑯᑕᖅ

[edit]

What is ᐊᑯᑕᖅ ?. The Akutaq (from Inupiaq language akutaq < akut- "to mix" & Central Alaskan Yup'ik language and Chevak Cup’ik language akutaq, Nunivak Cup’ig language akutar) is make only in Alaska and the Inuktitut syllabics not used in Alaska. --Kmoksy (talk) 20:56, 2 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It was added here and they are still aactive so you might check with them. I also noticed this (you may need to turn the syllabics on), number 4 on the list. That of course lead to Utkuhiksalik dialect, so it was used in syllabic areas as well, but as a slightly different food. CambridgeBayWeather (talk) 12:43, 3 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
You're right. Thanks, CambridgeBayWeather --Kmoksy (talk) 14:50, 3 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I was looking for something else and came across this with another spelling, akutuq. CambridgeBayWeather (talk) 14:50, 4 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Oooo, This is a treasure! Thanks. I created tr:Eskimo dondurması (Eskimo ice-cream) on the Turkish Wikipedia for the page tr:İnyupikler (Inupiat or Alaskan Inuit people). In Northern Alaskan Iñupiaq: The akutuq (with postbase -uq for Eskimo ice-cream) and akutaq (with postbase -aq for bread dough) < from Iñupiaq Combined Dictionary. Thanks --Kmoksy (talk) 15:42, 4 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Is there a reason Indian ice cream (Alaska) should not be merged with Akutaq? --Melsj (talk) 02:20, 13 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Based on the articles, it does seem like Akutaq is a type of Indian ice cream (Alaska), and should be merged into that article. The combined article might require a rename, as this dish is also found in Canada. (Tricky...) I will notify Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Indigenous peoples of North America of this discussion to see if anyone there has insight and/or wants to weigh in. -sche (talk) 04:55, 14 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I still support the merge and have introduced a separate proposal to change the name of Indian ice cream (Alaska) to Alaskan ice cream. Discussion is here. Yuchitown (talk) 15:33, 28 July 2020 (UTC)Yuchitown[reply]
