The Rittman-norm?

[edit]

Does anyone have / know the geochemistry software called the Rittmann norm? These kind of programs do the following: One starts with a "melt", the content of which depends on the Na, Ca, Fe, Al, etc contents of a dissolved rock sample (in oxide form to complicate things). In the end one ends up with crystallized minerals of cetain proportions.

I once saw it printed in Algol in a book's appendix and it had huge tables with nomogram co-ordinates (misprinted during translation from computer printout to book).

The software and the Rittman norm would of course be obsolete by now, but still.... 83.241.159.50 (talk) 16:19, 17 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
