This band won The best new band in austin Tx in 2006. In addition, the May 2008 release, produced by Ray Wylie Hubbard has reached number 1 on the Americana Charts for 2 straight weeks (see Americana Charts) What is significant is that this is only the second time in the history of the chart that an independent release has hit #1. In addition, it has been number one on the EuroAmericana Charts for 2 straight months. Wikipedia has written and praised the band for an unusual version of "Aint No More Cane" (please see Wikipedia). —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mackool20 (talkcontribs)

Notability

[edit]

Although I can fairly easily find the band at the top of the Americana chart, I don't know if Americana counts as a "national music chart" per WP:MUSIC (I know nothing about the genre, and from the americana websites, it seems a little "homespun", rather than any sort of major genre) - hence why I've tagged the article for notability concerns. Please understand, the Americana charts are a national chart that is not homespun. In fact, they are having their annual awards ceremony, and John Hiatt is being honored this year at Ryman auditorium (the home of the grand old opry) In addition, look who is on the chart: John Mellancamp, John Hiatt, Emmylou Harris, Little Feat. I assure you, these people are some of the best artists in the world and are proud to be members of the Americana association. Also, I take offense to the word "homespun". Thankyou for your kind consideration —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mackool20 (talkcontribs) 16:52, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'd have though that "homespun" - a word which, according to Wiktionary, means "plain and homely; unsophisticated and unpretentious" would be regarded as apt and complimentary - however, apologies if you've taken it as some sort of insult. Perhaps I should have said "receives less mainstream coverage than other genres". CultureDrone (talk) 07:04, 15 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If you tell me that you did not use "homespun" in the perjorative sense, but complimentary, then I believe and accept that. Now, how do we get this published? Thanks —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mackool20 (talkcontribs) 21:36, 15 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

CultureDrone... FYI, regarding "Americana" music... The Grammy Awards themselves have an actual award for "Best Americana Album" in the "American Roots Field." It is a true and real genre that has been around for quite a long time now. Txmusiclover (talk) 16:30, 6 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Page for Colin Brooks

[edit]

While there is a page on Wikipedia for a musician named Colin Brooks, he appears to be a drummer. Someone added a line about BOH, confusing the two. I don't have an account, but one of you who does might want to clarify by adding a page for Colin of BOH and disambiguating.131.238.31.40 (talk) 18:28, 5 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
