Proposed merge with Ksenia Sitnik

[edit]

Following advice and suggestions at a recent AfD in regards to another Junior Eurovision artist (Eliias), it has been recommended that all JESC biographical articles be merged into their respective country by year articles. This is so we avoid future WP:AfDs, WP:SPEEDY, and WP:NOTREPOSITORY. The content the BLP article can easily be explained in the context of this country by year article, and it is currently of a reasonable size that the merging of BLP article will not cause any problems as far as article size or undue weight is concerned. 2020 the last participation

[edit]

It has happened several times that someone adds the 2020 participation in the infobox as "last appearance", even though there is no source confirming that Belarus will actually withdraw. Suspension does not automatically imply withdrawal. So please only add it once the EBU confirms it. ―Jochem van Hees (talk) 17:43, 16 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Kazakhstan mention

[edit]

@Dealer07 and IvanScrooge98: I think it's better to discuss it here instead of edit warring. ―Jochem van Hees (talk) 21:13, 19 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

A possible compromise would be "countries that debuted in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest without having participated in the Eurovision Song Contest before"? ―Jochem van Hees (talk) 21:22, 19 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Jochem van Hees: actually I have now just reworded and separated the sentence since it doesn’t really go along with the rest of the summary in my opinion. I still think it is weird not to mention Kazakhstan is another country that debuted at the Junior contest without having previously competed in the adult version, but I can just let go if they have such a strong opinion against including it. 〜イヴァンスクルージ九十八[IvanScrooge98]会話 21:25, 19 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah it was an improvement, and I agree that it's weird not to mention Kazakhstan. But I guess you can still interpret "before joining the adult one" as that Kazakhstan actually has debuted in ESC. I wonder what Dealer07 thinks of it. ―Jochem van Hees (talk) 21:27, 19 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
We can just not mention Kazakhstan since they've not participated in esc yet and as I've already said add them when what the other user says actually happens. Anyways, till this is resolved don't revert my version since it existed for quite a long and the other user is the one having the diagreement. ―Dealer07 (talk) 21:55, 19 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Dealer07: "they are" in the same line after treating the country as singular, and adding a trivia fact, is very odd to me. Could you at least put it in a separate paragraph? 〜イヴァンスクルージ九十八[IvanScrooge98]会話 22:00, 19 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Lol, we do not have to focus on such small details. And this is not as trivial rather than a matter of fact, it's not like we wrote "Cyprus was beaten by Israel in Esc 2018 by 93 points" which would have been ofc needless to mention. ―Dealer07 (talk) 22:05, 19 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
"Lol, we do not have to focus on such small details" – if this is the level of the discussion, I'm done. And yes, it is a trivia fact when you put it between the number of participations and the hostings. 〜イヴァンスクルージ九十八[IvanScrooge98]会話 22:08, 19 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Jochem van Hees: in case you have something to add to this argument. 〜イヴァンスクルージ九十八[IvanScrooge98]会話 22:10, 19 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Personally I kinda agree with both of you tbh. Kazakhstan should be mentioned here because it's a similar case to Belarus and Serbia, but the sentence should not imply that Kazakhstan has already joined ESC. ―Jochem van Hees (talk) 22:53, 19 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yes of course, that’s why I had reworded it, or at least tried to. I support the suggestion you made above. 〜イヴァンスクルージ九十八[IvanScrooge98]会話 22:57, 19 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
