Was Kauff Jewish?

[edit]

From The Federal League of Baseball Clubs by Robert Peyton Wiggins (Jefferson, N.C. : McFarland, 2009): "It was assumed during his time as a player that Benny was Jewish, though there was no support for that conclusion other than the spelling of his name." The SABR bio linked from this page makes a similar claim. www.jewishmajorleaguers.com does not list him, either.

Despite his presence on Harry Stein's list (a list that, after all, places Rod Carew on the Jewish team), I think he should be removed from the list of Jewish players.

Rookie SB record

[edit]

There is a related discussion to the rookie stolen base record at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Baseball#Is_Federal_League_considered_a_major_league.3F that you are invited to join.—Bagumba (talk) 19:53, 3 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

There wasn't too much consensus on keep whether his rookie steals are considered a major-league rookie record. Archived discussion at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Baseball/Archive_40#Is_Federal_League_considered_a_major_league.3F. For now, I'm going to remove it as originial research for lack of reliable sources explicitly stating this.—Bagumba (talk) 22:54, 14 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
