Unsourced material

[edit]

I removed the following from this article the other day, but because of server lag I didn't add in the reason why I did it. I must have gone away and forgotten about my change! Sorry.

However, I have removed the following, as the info isn't sourced:

  • Cumming has had the same mayor, Henry Ford Gravitt, since 1970.
  • Cumming's Fourth of July parade each year is the largest display of steam engine tractors in the World. (p.s. my dad would be interested in this fact, I just know that tractor enthusiasts must have written about this).
  • Oprah Winfrey visited Cumming in 1987 to discuss growing racial tensions in the county.
  • The Christian studio Triumph Marketing LLC is headquarted in Cumming.

The rest of the material is actually about notable personalities, so I converted the "trivia" section to "personalities".

I should also note that the above material that I removed doesn't actually fit as it's not "trivia", as per the definition. The material sounds interesting, and most certainly not "trivial" or "unimportant". - Tbsdy lives (formerly Ta bu shi da yu) talk 07:58, 29 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

History

[edit]

I added a lot to the history section. Anyone want to assess it? Ethan (talk) 23:48, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The first paragraph under Early History seems dubious. One of the cited sources is no longer live, and the other does not mention occupation of the area before European settlement. How do we know that the Cherokee people arrived in 1755 precisely, and that the area was never inhabited before that? Freespirit456 (talk) 15:38, 17 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Apparently it was named after a guy called Dick Cumming. This just raises further questions! DominikAnup (talk) 00:52, 1 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
