Vesey was not a slave, he was a free man. There are many accounts that say he was framed in a conspiracy. (comment left on article by 24.124.115.39 (talk · contribs) - User:Alphax/sig 09:22, Mar 16, 2005 (UTC))

Hey Im doing a project on Denmark Vesey, so if anybody has any other info. on him, send it to my talk page (Weston 18:14, 15 November 2007 (UTC)) THanks[reply]

Hey, just because he wasn't a slave doesn't mean he couldn't organize a revolt. So what, it just makes him all the more better(cheesepuffsaretasty!!! 18:19, 15 November 2007 (UTC))[reply]

Vesey St.

[edit]

There is a street in NYC called Vesey Street, which runs along the northern border of the World Financial Complex. Could this street be named for Denmark Vesey? --ZekeMacNeil 01:51, 22 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The article on the street clearly says it was named for a rector at nearby Trinity Church.Parkwells (talk) 15:18, 10 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Sweet Cherries in Charleston was a remake

[edit]

Richard Durham's radio drama "Sweet Cherries in Charleston" that aired in the CBS Radio Workshop series on August 25, 1957, was actually first broadcast in the NBC Destination Freedom program, as "The Story of Denmark Vesey" (downloadable as http://www.archive.org/download/DestinationFreedom/DF_48-07-18_ep004-The_Denmark_Vesey_Story.mp3 from http://www.archive.org/details/DestinationFreedom ) on July 7, 1948. This dating, apart from the indication in the mp3 file name, is confirmed in various logs of Destination Freedom broadcasts, e.g. http://www.digitaldeliftp.com/DigitalDeliToo/dd2jb-Destination-Freedom.html . Should that first production of Durham's radio drama be mentioned in the "In art" section? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.172.211.209 (talk) 23:06, 20 October 2011 (UTC) (I forgot to log in before I wrote that, sorry. There is an error in the third paragraph this article. The number do not add up. The article lists 131 arrested. 67 convicted with 31 deported and 35 hung, that is only 66 people. It then lists 27 acquitted and 38 released.that is 65 people. The 65 acquitted of released and 67 convicted adds up to 132 people. was it really 66 convicted or 132 arrested of is some other number wrong.JHM58 (talk) 16:17, 25 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Chop from intro

[edit]

I've just chopped a slab of text from the Intro. If there's anything of value in that, please feel free to add it in in the appropriate place (ie NOT the intro). The main body needs a lot of work too, imho. Snori (talk) 09:15, 12 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
