Rotten Tomatoes Review

[edit]

how can rotten tomatoes say that the show is almost a black mirror rip off when these stories were written before 1982 way before black mirror was even thought of? the fact that it came out after black mirror and the review was likely written by someone who doesnt know who phillip k dick was, doesnt help. if black mirror were released after this, then that would probably be known as an electric dreams rip off. though truth be told theyre both just following in the footsteps of shows like the outer limits and the twighlight zone. in fact i think if you go back far enough, every show or story ever written by man, has been influenced or inspired by something else that came before it. originality in story telling to the point where nothing in the story has ever been used or thought of by something or someone before it is a very very very rare gem indeed, or practically impossible. true originality probably doesnt exist. it would have been better to describe it as as good as black mirror, or twilight zone and outer limits . i thnk its good so far, and ive always thought there should always be some sort of sci fi anthology series on tv, so having two different ones is awesome, especially two shown on channel 4, those guys know how to pick good shows, from things like 'dead set' and 'shameless' to 'misfits' and 'skins' or 'this is england', no matter what, if its on channel four, ya know its gonna be good. which i think this is. and im only on the first ep, the hood maker. i love how it looks like the seventies, its nice to see a sci fi set in the past as opposed to the future all the time, really interesting perspective. — Preceding unsigned comment added by D0S81 (talkcontribs) 21:51, 31 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Charlie Brooker has described how Channel 4 planned to cancel Black Mirror and offered Brooker a position as writer or similar on Electric Dreams instead, considering Electric Dreams to be likely to be a bigger hit in need of a larger budget.
It might be worth sourcing the exact quote from Brooker on this as context for the similarities between the two shows. Though Dick's short stories were produced decades before Black Mirror, Channel 4 had recent experience with Black Mirror, so it's not impossible Black Mirror was an influence on Electric Dreams as a show. 2A00:23C5:381B:F501:41CC:1FA5:F50:15A0 (talk) 15:30, 14 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Episode 9: Safe and Sound

[edit]

How is Episode 9 possibly based on "Foster, You're Dead!"? The short story has to do with bomb shelters but Episode 9 is a totally different plot with different characters. January 9, 2019 8:37 PM CST JettaMann

"Safe and Sound" is based on "Foster, You're Dead!", but it does deviate quite a bit from the short story. See this article. —Bruce1eetalk 05:57, 10 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Sequence of episodes

[edit]

Why is the order of episodes not in right sequence? 14.139.219.220 (talk) 07:47, 30 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

They're listed in the order that they originally aired. The episodes are all standalone stories, so viewing order doesn't matter.DarkProdigy (talk) 00:37, 31 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
