I have created this page because it is a factual professional sports team in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and is part of a professional league (the NWFA), which you will notice, there are other teams of the same league with wikipedia pages. So I am a bit confused on why this would be deleted when there are clearly other pages of the same status (i.e. West Virginia Wonders, Cincinnati Sizzle, etc.). I would also like to add that I do have reliable citations from the team's own website to backup the information I have posted. FTSKfan (talk) 19:23, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What is needed is verifiable references to coverage in third-party reliable sources. Even if everything on the team's website is true, we need independent sourcing. With regard to the pages on the other teams cited, I'm not so sure some of those should stay either for the same reason. Also, due to the nature of Wikipedia, where anyone can create or edit an article, not all articles get the attention they deserve. Therefore, the mere presence of another article does not necessarily denote any kind of "Seal of Approval". The existence or quality of article X is not in and of itself a persuasive argument for the existence of article Y. --Finngall talk 19:51, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I see what you are saying, but could it still be possible for the page to remain, if say I added some sourcing from a local newspaper or the league's website (besides the team's)? There are a few more sources I could add. Thanks for the polite explaination! FTSKfan (talk) 20:01, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Local newspaper stories, particularly from The News-Sentinel, would be fantastic. Coverage in other media would help as well. It doesn't necessarily need to be online as long as it is properly cited and verifiable. The league's own website wouldn't be bad, but it's certainly not as independent. Also, there's nothing that says the team's website can't be used as a source, it's just that it can't be the only source. Gotta have the third-party citations first. --Finngall talk 20:34, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
PS: I've removed the speedy tag for now to give you time to hunt down those sources, but I'll keep it on my watchlist. --Finngall talk 20:41, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I've come up with a couple of sources, each from The News-Sentinel and The Journal Gazette, the main newspapers of the city. If you need me to find anymore, I'd be happy to hunt them down. Thanks. FTSKfan (talk) 20:52, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
