Cromwell defeated?

[edit]

Charles II never defeated Oliver Cromwell! Olly died in office, as Lord Protector (essentially, a president). Charles II was invited back because of Richard Cromwell's (Oliver's son) inability to form a stable government (and the people were tired of puritan excesses). The reference to Cromwell's defeat has been deleted. I have added information from the ODNB to fill in on Lovelace's career pre New York, and to better chronologise his last year or so after return. (Previously the reader may have been left with the impression Lovelace died in prison.)Cloptonson (talk) 12:32, 7 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Upcoming amendments

[edit]

I am augmenting this article with information from the ODNB. I am deleting London as a death place because of lack of certainty he was in London when he died. He was released from the Tower in April 1675 because of his health, having not been charged with any offence, and went to live in Woodstock, Oxfordshire. He died by 22 December 1675 when administration of his estate was granted to a brother.Cloptonson (talk) 11:57, 7 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
