Expansion

[edit]

I would like to thank those who have helped with adding additional information about the Gandy Bridge. In particular, those who have added information regarding the original 1920s span, as well as the 1956 span. Wslupecki (talk) 02:18, 30 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Illicit Drag Racing

[edit]

As a local, I would like to mention that the eastbound span of the bridge is used for illicit drag racing. This is because it is long, flat, and relatively wind sheltered because of the higher westbound span. As well, the long straight stretch before the hump makes it difficult for law enforcement to monitor without they themselves being monitored. A friend of mine has bragged about exceeding 180 MPH before reaching the hump. Pedestrians and cyclists should be wary of this on evenings. I do not have any further detail. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.106.97.138 (talk) 16:43, 20 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
