Wordy?

[edit]

I think the introduction to this article is far too dense for a discography page. Someone navigating here won't be looking for information like the band line-up or times when they disbanded and regrouped. As for the second paragraph, I think it is completely irrelevant, and should be put in (or left to) the main article for the band. Any relevant information on album or single popularity is already tabulated. Kiyura (talk) 21:22, 10 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think the lead is fine and it is also similar in layout and structure to other Featured List discographies. It is important to show the different line-ups during the different stages of their releases. The second paragraph is also important as it acts as a summary to the list per MOS:INTRO. --JD554 (talk) 06:55, 11 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Chart issues

[edit]

There are a few American singles with notes reading "charted only on the Hot 100 Dance Chart" and so forth. Note that these charts are not equivalent to the overarching Billboard Hot 100 chart. The information is misrepresented and should be removed. WesleyDodds (talk) 13:53, 14 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of a few sections

[edit]

I didn't realise that I wasn't signed in, but I removed The Story So Far, All About Garbage, Garbage Re-Cycled and Live Edition from the Discography... I believe these were added by a continual sock puppet user of whom I've had the pleasure of correcting for over 2 years. This user continually adds these releases back into the Garbage discography, or creates pages for them on wikipedia.

The Story So Far is in fact a bootleg release http://garbageboots.altervista.org/boots/story.html All About Garbage was a free release by an Italian music magazine, and therefore not appropriate for inclusion. Garbage Re-Cycled is a compilation promotional release, and is therefore not notable enough to be included, as is Live Edition, which is simply the bonus tracks from a Version 2.0 re-release ade available to Garbage's UK mailing list.

I feel to include any of the last three releases would be of no interest to anyone but hardcore Garbage collectors (and of which this information can be found on www.garbage-discography.co.uk and numerous other fan sites) and would also complicate the band's discography with barely notable entries. Breakinguptheguy (talk) 18:22, 8 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Also, Independent Access, listed in the singles discography wasn't a single, it was a free giveaway with Version 2.0 in Newbury Comics stores. Breakinguptheguy (talk) 18:32, 8 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Reformatting

[edit]

I feel it's time to update the formatting of this article. I'm gonna start doing it over the next couple of days. It will end up looking more like this and this and the like. Does anyone have any preference over which charts are included? I don't want to go to all that trouble, only to get in to a revert war over whether Norway or Flanders-Belgium should have their chart info included. It needs to be limited to ten. I'm thinking about going — US, Australia, Austria, Canada, France, Germany, New Zealand, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK. Any objections at this point?
