è or é?

[edit]

Which e is at the end of Volonte?

From italian page it's é. --82.53.155.58 (talk) 21:09, 22 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It's a good question: the “official” page gianmariavolonte.it writes Volontè (but they also write “Volonte'”, what is obviously wrong). I think that he's spelled Volonté, but I can't find any interviews on YouTube... So what? --XanonymusX (talk) 16:20, 17 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The correct spelling is Volonté as you can see in all italian encyclopedias and even popular biographies of some quality. Check: Dizionario del cinema italiano, Enciclopedia Italiana and Enciclopedia del Cinema. As for the "official" page "official page", official with "" is really more appropriate than without. Whoever created that page does not seem to really know very much about the actor. /Capannoreso (talk) 05:48, 12 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I'm Italian and I can confirm that the correct spelling is Volonté. In italian "è" and "é" have a different pronunciation and I can ensure that everyone (including Gian Maria Volonté) pronounce the name Volonté with the final "é". On the internet the surname is often mispelled but here there are some trustworthty sites:
http://www.treccani.it/enciclopedia/gian-maria-volonte (Treccani is the main Italian encyclopedia)
http://scuolavolonte.it (a school named after him is "Scuola d'Arte Cinematografica Gian Maria Volonté").

NAME

[edit]

Gian Maria Volontè is correct name as per actor's official website. Name change request made at IMDb by me, also. Quis separabit? 19:59, 4 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The site http://www.gianmariavolonte.it is not the official website of the actor, but a tribute-site, made after the death of Volonté. However, even on the homepage of this site there are two different versions of the surname: "Volontè" and "Volonté". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.16.16.49 (talk) 23:06, 13 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
all the books on the actor assess that the correct spelling is "Volonté" for example:

Fair use rationale for Image:Volonté Fistful-2.jpg

[edit]

Image:Volonté Fistful-2.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
