Moving the Page to "Goa Island, Mozambique"

[edit]

Hi, There is another island within the Indian state of Goa with the same name in its English translation. It is currently on wiki page Goa Island, India. . Could this page be moved to Goa Island, Mozambique to distinguish it from the above mentioned island? Zocdoclesson (talk) 16:43, 12 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Zocdoclesson One key difference is that Goa Island, India is not an island; it is a community. Thus, including the name of the country is a natural disambiguator. I don't see a reason to move this page. —C.Fred (talk) 16:49, 12 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Zocdoclesson The first thing to determine is whether "Goa Island" is the name of the island in India. That should be done at Talk:Goa Island (India). —C.Fred (talk) 16:56, 12 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
There was a (now deleted) comment here which claimed that Goa Island, India was not an island.
.
I would like to clarify that, that piece of land is surrounded on all sides by water, namely Mandovi to the north, Zuari to the south, Cumbarjua Canal to the east and the Arabian Sea to the west.
Therefore it fits the definition of an island. Zocdoclesson (talk) 16:56, 12 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It was my comment. I initially thought Goa Island was a community based on the infobox and the title of the article. I removed said comment when I realized it was an island. I'll be restoring it for transparency. —C.Fred (talk) 17:17, 12 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Looping in User:Rejoy2003 for their thoughts on this. Zocdoclesson (talk) 17:37, 12 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I find the article misleading and lacks verifiable content. Instead I'll be taking this to the AFD. Rejoy2003(talk) 07:37, 13 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Island of Sena

[edit]

An older version of Portuguese India Armadas appeared to refer to the Island of Sena as Sant' Iago in Portuguese. I was unable to confirm this name, but perhaps it can be done using print sources or a more specific search. That island might need its own article, but for now it's only really mentioned on Goa Island. -- Beland (talk) 23:59, 29 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
