Internal conversion

[edit]

If the maximum energy of the gamma ray is 35keV, shouldn't the energy of the electrons ejected via internal conversion be 35keV - BE where BE is the binding energy of the shell in Tellurium from which the electron is ejected?

...or to x-rays (from electron bremsstrahlung)??

[edit]

Shouldn't this read x-ray fluorescence (i.e. characteristic radiation) not electron bremsstrahlung?

Couldn't all of these be placed in an article called isotopes of iodine? Richard001 07:44, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Isotopic purity

[edit]

The article says: "Its tolerable content (which is set by the unwanted isotope interfering with dose calculations in brachytherapy) lies at about 0.2%."

It is not clear 0.2% of what... mass? activity? dose rate?

I hope the creator of the article can read this question, and clarify.

Thanks!

I'm not sure, but I presume it means isotopic impurity (more than 0.2% of the iodine atoms are I-126; the rest are I-125). I can't imagine this measured in any other fashion. Mass fraction is a slight possibility, but is almost the same number, here. In isotope mixes where it isn't (deuterium, say) these purity numbers are always given in atom %, not mass fraction %. (By the way, there is not much more to be said about I-125... I don't think this is a "stub". The article is good!) 196.35.252.210 (talk) 08:40, 25 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Agree no longer a stub. Yes, a lot of good info was added by somebody who apparently makes the stuff in Canada. I added some medical and chem stuff, and voila! SBHarris 19:24, 25 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Half-life discrepancy

[edit]

According to the infobox, the half-life is 59.4 days, but the text says "nearly 59 days" in the second paragraph. Can someone who knows about such things account for this discrepancy? This is not an area that I know much about. Piperh (talk) 13:54, 24 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
