GA Review: On hold

[edit]

I have reviewed this article according to the requirements of the GA criteria and have placed the article on hold at this time. Address the following issues within seven days and I'll pass the article:

  1. For Image:JosephByrne.JPG, in the heading for Fair use rationale, reword it to "Fair use rationale for Joseph Byrne (Holby City)", because each rationale needs to specifically state what article it is being used for. Also, a source needs to be added along with the copyright holder of the image.
  2. In the infobox why is there a hyphen at the end of "8x12, "Mother Love", 2006 -" for his first appearance? I'm assuming it's supposed to be to include his last appearance, but for the first appearance, it isn't necessary so you can remove it.
  3. Also in the infobox, Darwin doesn't link to anything, fix it if possible.
  4. "The character first appeared on-screen on 3 January 2006..." Add a wikilink for the full date.
  5. "Joseph's role in the show is that of troubled surgeon - the resultant angst..." Use — for the hyphen. Fix any other occurrences throughout the article.
  6. "In 2006, Roberts was longlisted for the 'Most Popular Newcomer' award at the year's National Television Awards, for his portrayal of the character." Single sentences shouldn't stand alone so either expand on this or incorporate it into another paragraph. Fix any other occurrences throughout the article.
  7. "Prior to joining the cast of Holby City as Joseph, Luke Roberts had made a guest appearance in Series 7, Episode 30 of the show..." Add a link for the episode to the episode list for the show, and also mention the episode name like what was done in the intro for the other episode.
  8. "On joining the cast as Joseph, Roberts has said:" For the quote after this, if it comes from the same source, you only need to include one inline citation at the end, not three throughout the quote. If there are gaps between the individual quotes, then add "..." in between.
  9. "Roberts has also spoken about the research he underwent in preparation for taking on the role of Joseph, which included witnessing open heart surgery at University College Hospital, London, as well as reading up on OCD." Add an inline citation at the end of this statement.
  10. "...a James Bond impression in episode "Care of Duty (Part One)." Again add a link to the episode in the episode list. Do the same for all of the other episodes mentioned.
  11. "In turn, Joseph begins to open up and confide in Elliot..." Reword "open up" to something more encyclopedic, some readers may not know what this means.
  12. Add a wikilink for National Television Awards in the lead and also in the reception section.

Again, address the above issues and I will pass the article. If you have any questions or when you are done, let me know on my talk page and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. --Nehrams2020 (talk) 21:15, 28 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Done 1-5, except the source for the image copyright. DBD 02:18, 29 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
And finished off the rest. Frickative (talk) 02:20, 30 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Article naming

[edit]

It is proposed to move this article to Joseph Byrne (fictional character) in accordance with naming conventions for people. Feedback is welcome. Jherschel (talk) 09:38, 23 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Per MOS:TV it should be Joseph Byrne (Holby City) if moved. Is the intention to turn Joseph Byrne into a disambiguation page, and would a hatnote not suffice? Frickative 12:55, 23 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The intention is to turn Joseph Byrne into a disambiguation page, as there are at least three people with the name Joseph Byrne, and another two with the name Joe Byrne, and then there are at least four Joseph Byrnes. Thanks for the tip re the article name, as per naming conventions for television, the program name of Holby City will follow the character name. Thanks Jherschel (talk) 09:13, 24 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Ahh, that makes a lot of sense – I didn't know about the Joe Byrnes and Joseph Byrnes. The proposal has my full support. Frickative 13:58, 24 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Any suggestions for removing the talk page? Is appears the same here and here. Jherschel (talk) 09:19, 25 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'm really not sure about that, sorry, but can I ask why you've moved so many other Holby characters? As a random example, I can't see any other articles titled remotely close to 'Kyla Tyson' that would warrant a disambig page. Frickative 13:16, 25 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
ETA: Having taken stock, I see you've moved all the Holby City and Casualty character pages, with the rationale being per WP:TV-NC. However, that guideline states that "the disambiguator should be added only if multiple articles would normally have the same name" and I don't believe that to be the case here. Frickative 13:42, 25 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It certainly is not the case with all the articles you moved. They should be moved back ASAP. Jherschel, did you even check to see if there are any other articles with the same name?RaintheOne BAM 14:21, 25 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Done. All restored, including links. I must admit though, when someone comes along with the same name, it would appear that fictional characters get 'preference' over a real person. It's only TV, people. Chill out. :-) Jherschel (talk) 10:31, 26 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

GA status

[edit]

The reception section has an expand tag on it and probably does need some more information about the reception of the character itself. This could cause the article to fail the broadness criteria. AIRcorn (talk) 22:01, 20 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You are right. I know there is some reception available. If you are willing to add some, then I would help too.Rain the 1 22:39, 20 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
It is not really my field, I had never even heard of the show before coming here. However, I am interested in Good articles, so will be willing to help. If you can give me some links to where I can find then sources I will add them in. AIRcorn (talk) 22:58, 20 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I know this was passed a GAR a number of years ago and since then this character had further development. He is no longer part of the series anymore. I shall place some sources below.Rain the 1 14:56, 21 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
