should include the rapper Chamillionaire (Hakeem Seriki) under entertainment.

Also numerous current and former NBA players attended UH

Tom Landry was a graduate of Texas and does not appear to have even attended Univ. of Houston.

Tom Landry most certainly did attend the University of Houston. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from UH's Cullen College of Engineering in 1952. He also earned a business degree from the University of Texas (and played collegiate football there).--Emoll 23:31, 3 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Should the "Faculty" section include former and retired faculty?--Emoll 23:34, 3 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I deleted Lawrence Wheeler from the Entertainment and performing arts alumni section, as he is a UH faculty member but not an alumnus. There is a place for faculty entries towards the bottom of the page if someone wants to add him there.Emoll 13:29, 18 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Townes Van Zandt

[edit]

209.101.219.62 deleted the name of Townes Van Zandt because he "attended college in Colorado." It is very possible that he did, but one can attend more than one college in one's life. I personally was enrolled full-time at three different colleges at different times, and I consider myself an alumnus of each. . . . "In Texas in the spring of 65, Townes enrolled at the University of Houston in pre-law, pledging at a frat that he would later satirize unmercifully in a hilarious talking blues number called Fraternity Blues. But he didnt last long with the preppy crowd. It seems that much to the chagrin of his frat brothers Van Zandt failed to bubble with enthusiasm. Townes found himself torn between an over-whelming sense of obligation to finish law school and lead a normal life. . . ." http://townesvanzandt.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=6&products_id=33 "The following requested information is taken from "Music City", a free Austin magazine (which a kind person from Austin sent me): Texas Beat's Oct. '93 issue says that Townes 'was attending the University of Houston studying economics and planning to become a lawyer, when Bob Dylan's 1964 album "The Times They Are A-Changin'" changed his outlook forever.' from Newsgroups: rec.music.dylan • Date: 1994-01-19 15:36:01 PST Emoll 15:30, 20 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

John Lienhard

[edit]

Surely Dr. John Lienhard, M.D. Anderson Professor Emeritus of Technology and Culture, should be on here somewhere. What category would be best? He's best known now for the Engines of our Ingenuity radio show, but he is also an author and ASME fellow. --W0lfie 18:01, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Some unregistered user(s) keep removing Kenneth Lay (UH Ph.D. in economics, 1970) from this list. Can something be done? Is semi-protection appropriate? Emoll (talk) 00:53, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Admins wouldn't allow for semi-protection of this article yet since there hasn't been frequent enough vandalism. If it continues to happen on a frequent basis, we can request semi-protection here. Brianreading (talk) 06:45, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Notable Alumni - Mary Lynne Gasaway Hill

[edit]

I added Mary Lynne Gasaway Hill, American poet, writer and professor to the "Notable Alumni" section, and linked it to her Wiki page.

I did want to note my COI with Mary Lynne Gasaway Hill here in the Talk page.

However, I checked the COI rules, and it looks like this edit is in compliance with the guidelines.

Best wishes, Andrewincowtown (talk) 22:40, 12 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I moved her listing to the "Literature" subheading. 2603:8081:6503:BD00:89A0:4869:B38C:527D (talk) 17:28, 4 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
