Pontecagnano rail disaster?

[edit]

In the Rail Disasters list, shows

100–140 – Pontecagnano train disaster, Pontecagnano, Italy,1944

I cannot find any information about that even on books about italian railways. I guess this could came from an early assessment of victims of the Balvano Disaster (much higher on the list). --Jollyroger (talk) 10:43, 12 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

probably, but even if it did happen, it doesn't belong, with less than 200 deaths. PakistinianHurricane (talk) 19:20, 9 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

USS Saratoga ferry accident: Would it qualify to be here?

[edit]

On December 22, 1990 a ferry in Haifa, Israel was carrying crewmen of the aircraft carrier USS Saratoga (CV-60) back to their ship from port when it sank killing 21 of the 102 sailors on board. This would technically have been during peacetime as Saratoga was deployed on Operation Desert Shield, which was the buildup to the Desert Storm invasion of Iraq a few weeks later. At any rate, the vessel that actually went down was not the Saratoga but an Israeli ferry that I don't know the name of, or if it even had one. I would think this would qualify if we're still including sinkings that far down on the casualty scale, which we seem to be. Just wondering if that would be something that could be added?

again, maybe on the more specific lists, but on this general one, no. For maritime on this list, it has to have at least 500. PakistinianHurricane (talk) 19:21, 9 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Ok I'm starting to think that this talk section isn't just for the general accidents and disasters by death toll list. Anyways, it probably does on a more specific list, but this general one is a no. PakistinianHurricane (talk) 19:23, 9 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Major cleanup

[edit]

I feel like a major cleanup is in order. A lot is wrong, but the only things I fixed for now are a few of the dates, and a couple of other small things. In short, the death tolls listed for many of them are wrong (at the very least according to their articles on this website), and for many of them, it changes their ranking. Also, there are several things that should be on the list, but aren't, and several entries that I feel like they should not be on the list, but are. To name two that I feel shouldn't be, the Cinema Rex and Kanungu Church Fires were both deliberate acts (I think, the former definetly was, the latter is rather complicated). I may go more in depth on this at another time. — Preceding unsigned comment added by PakistinianHurricane (talkcontribs) 22:49, January 14, 2024 (UTC)
