Human Speakers

[edit]

addition: HUMAN Speakers (USA)

I presume I shouldn't do it myself, since I am associated with the company... so can someone else do it sometime?

I just fixed the typo in the header. Doh! Sad to see no one has seen fit to do this in ten years. I will do it myself. Huw Powell (talk) 06:07, 11 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Loudspeaker manufacturer list is useful

[edit]

I find this loudspeaker list to be useful. An encyclopedia is supposed to contain a wealth of knowledge. You may argue that this manufacturer list is a directory in a sense, but it is really a list of the many companies who produce loudspeakers. Producing loudspeakers is not only an engineering feat, but also a work of art. A lot of research is done in this field and much of it is done by these manufacturers. I really think that if someone were to be interested in acoustics research and wanted to find out more that they would find this list useful. Perhaps making the list more complete and categorizing by countries would be useful.

Scope of the list

[edit]

An intro would help define the limits of the list. Is this supposed to be active, present day manufacturers, or should it include historic manufacturers? Magnavox, for instance, once had loudpeaker factories. An is it supposed to be raw speakers, or hi-fi furniture? Does Radio Shack actually have factories, or are they just sellers of products made mostly in China? Edison 00:18, 10 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Radio Shack has not had any factories for quite some timereiknir (talk) 12:23, 30 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • I also notice that there is some inconsistency in the associated countries, for example: KEF Audio is based in the UK but owned by a Hong Kong based company (GP Acoustics), in this case the country is "UK/China". Also Bowers and Wilkins are UK based whereas they are listed as USA in the list (not sure if this is because of some holding company??). Perhaps it should be made clear if the country refers to the country where the products are designed, where the HQ is or where the holding company is based?? Disambiguation

[edit]

There are quite a few manufacturers pointing to disambiguation pages where it is not so easy to find information about them. Anyone with good knowledge of the subject around? --Ruziklan (talk) 22:22, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The link to AVI (Canada) is incorrect: it leads to the AVI fileformat rather than a loudspeaker company page. I presume that AVI represents AVI Sound International. No page exists for this company but i created a link anyway. --Moaltmann (talk) 23:02, 18 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Pointless

[edit]

This article is utterly pointless. It contains no useful information about the manufacturers listed, and it is grossly incomplete. I have 5 hifi systems, and only 3 of the speaker manufacturers are listed here, despite 4 of them being major manufacturers. I also restore vintage radios, and most of the loudspeaker manufacturers commonly encountered are unlisted too. The article should either be dramatically expanded or deleted. --Ef80 (talk) 20:05, 29 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. This list should be a 1:1 copy of Category:Loudspeaker manufacturers. The directory will be automatically created when a suitably tagged article for the manufacturer is made. Mdeen (talk) 08:31, 3 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Pinnacle Speakers

[edit]

Are definitely notable speakers and are not listed. 2600:1700:5D51:3730:115C:FAF2:28F9:4EC7 (talk) 23:29, 2 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

They are not listed because they have no article. That is required to be on the list. If they are notable and there are enough reliable sources you may be able to write one. If you have never written one you could read Your first article for information. -- Alexf(talk) 00:14, 3 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
