Cast and casting sections

[edit]

I've been thinking about this for a bit and I wanted thoughts. Is there any benefit to "flip flopping" the formatting of the "Cast and characters" and "Casting" sections as they appear here, with those on the season 1 (and a bit on the season 2) article? For background, the formatting we are currently using (bullets and associated prose for "Cast", and dated info about when cast join here with a simple sentence over at the season article in "Casting") was copied from the formatting used for the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. articles. It worked for AoS because there wasn't much turn over between the starring cast each season and the prose info applied mostly generally to each character throughout. However for here, knowing that while we do have two seasons, they each appear as though they are their own, distinct thing, I think it would benefit to flip the info.

What I'm thinking then is this: for "Cast and characters" here, it remains just the "starring" actors, but we only retain the character descriptions and prose that could apply to them generally, moving everything else to the season 1 article. Then for "Casting", take the first paragraph from the season 1 article to here, and move the first three paragraphs here to the season 1 article. Then for season 2, we just add to the last paragraph here in a single sentence who the new starring actors are, and keep the season 2 casting section as is.

Thoughts? - Favre1fan93 (talk) 02:57, 26 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I thought this sounded familiar so I just had a quick look in the archive and we did already briefly discuss it: Talk:Loki (TV series)/Archive 1#Season 1 draft. I still agree with your suggestion, I think it makes sense to have a full "Cast and characters" and "Casting" section at each season article and just have a brief overview of both here. We tend to treat these Disney+ shows more like films than series anyway, and in this case S1 and S2 would be two different "films". - adamstom97 (talk) 03:17, 26 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I thought I did as well, but didn't go back to search lol. I'll wait for any other comments, otherwise I will make this change. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 03:38, 26 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Done If anyone else wants to check the info in "Cast and characters" and if more can be moved/adjusted, that'd be great. I did what I felt was appropriate at each location. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 16:29, 28 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Conclusion of the series

[edit]

As you can see on the official Marvel website and this article from Collider (website), the series is considered concluded because production years are indicated as "2021-2023" and not "2021-" like What If...? (TV series). So I think we can mark the series as concluded without waiting November 9, 2024. In addition to this, almost all of other languages Wikipedias have already considered ended the series. Tizio Incognito (talk) 09:23, 15 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Tizio Incognito That is original research and synthesis. Do you have a reliable source that expliticly states that "the Loki series has concluded"? -- Alex_21 TALK 10:27, 15 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I think that official Marvel website is a reliable source. Tizio Incognito (talk) 11:36, 15 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It does not say the word "concluded" (or any of its synonyms) anywhere. You are simply assuming that's what the "2021–2023" means. -- Alex_21 TALK 11:39, 15 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Anyway this website states explicitally that is "concluded". Tizio Incognito (talk) 11:51, 15 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That site absolutely does not conform with WP:RS. -- Alex_21 TALK 11:52, 15 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Alex 21 As stated in this article, there are no plans for a season 3. In addition to this, official Walt Disney Company website stated in this press "The finale of the Marvel Studios series-which concluded [...]". Tizio Incognito (talk) 09:35, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Done I've indicated Walt Disney Company website as source because it's both an official and reliable source.
Tizio Incognito (talk) 09:58, 22 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That is a good source for this claim and I have adjusted its inclusion in the article to fit inline with the other future discussion in the "Development" section in the body. We don't need to source it in the lead or infobox if it is supported in the body. Trailblazer101 (talk) 18:46, 23 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I've reverted this add. I read this source as talking about the finale's conclusion. WP:NORUSH. This doesn't feel like the best source to use. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 16:10, 28 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Actually this source can be used according to me, @Alex 21 and @Trailblazer101. Please motivate your decisions with real reasons and not with acronyms. Tizio Incognito (talk) 19:03, 28 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
We should actually use a third-party source over a press release from the company. Given this was reverted and the points that we can just wait the natural time period of 12 months from its last date to adjust this, we don't need to go back and say it is concluded, given Disney's wording is admittedly janky. Trailblazer101 (talk) 20:11, 28 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Trailblazer101 Could this article, where is written that there are no plans for a season 3, be used as that third-party source? Tizio Incognito (talk) 20:41, 28 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That doesn't confirm the series necessarily ended. That is WP:SYNTH. There is no harm in being patient and waiting until November to remove the "present" label per the hidden note. Trailblazer101 (talk) 00:50, 29 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I never said this. -- Alex_21 TALK 22:42, 28 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Actually you did it even if not directly. Tizio Incognito (talk) 07:50, 29 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If I did not directly say it, I did not say it. I did not agree with the changes you made, and agree with Trail on leaving it until November. -- Alex_21 TALK 10:16, 29 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That's not true because on 15 February 2024 you said that a source reporing the word "concluded" (or any of its synonyms) should be considered enough to mark the series as "ended" and that press states "The finale of the Marvel Studios series-which concluded [...]". Tizio Incognito (talk) 10:19, 29 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
And yet Disney's wording has been called into question as referring to the finale. I would suggest you WP:DROPTHESTICK and be patient. There is no point in arguing over verbiage when this wording will be updated by November, so there is no harm in waiting until then and there is, again, WP:NORUSH. Trailblazer101 (talk) 18:21, 29 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
At most, I would say Disney's press release could potentially only be used as it was in the production section, but to provide juxtaposition to Wright's comments (though I don't think it is needed). But the infobox, lead, and release section changes should not be implemented in my opinion given the ambiguity of the wording. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 15:47, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
As we all know, Marvel's Disney+ series are structured in a highly unconventional way (at least, until the reported "reset"), so it's possible we may never receive official word that the series has been "canceled", if that's even a term they use. InfiniteNexus (talk) 06:09, 3 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Precisely, and that's why we have a standard practice of a year's grace period, per the infobox instructions, to update the series as concluded. -- Alex_21 TALK 10:09, 3 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This means that you were wrong saying, on 15 February 2024, "a reliable source that expliticly states that "the Loki series has concluded". Whe should instead find a source that states that "the Loki series has cancelled" or wait until November 6 2024. Tizio Incognito (talk) 10:12, 3 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Either either. It's not that hard to just wait until November, since there's clearly contention over the topic. -- Alex_21 TALK 10:15, 3 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
A latest interview with Hiddleston, confirming the question of a third season is still unknown (and thus not confirmed to be ended or cancelled). -- Alex_21 TALK 00:14, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Probably Hiddleston isn't aware of the press that confirms the end of the series. Anyway also Iman Vellani said that Ms. Marvel could have a second season in this interview even if it's a miniseries. I think that both of them are "pertinent responses" that can't confirm or disconfirm the future of the shows. Tizio Incognito (talk) 12:43, 10 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Once again, we are in WP:NORUSH. The article is not being impacted in any way currently saying it is or isn't concluded. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 22:01, 10 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This is true for every article that has been linked in this talk. Tizio Incognito (talk) 13:13, 19 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Bisexual

[edit]

Hello, @Trimetwes fan1003 and @Spanneraol. I don't really care if it's there or not, but please stop editing the article again and again without checking the facts. So, for your information. There was a heavy hint in 1x01, but not enough to be considered as fact in Wikipedia. Then it was explicitly mentioned in 1x03, timestamp 00:22:13-00:22:32. Please rewatch this part before futher editing. Thank you. IKhitron (talk) 08:49, 23 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Just look at the article here on the third episode, Lamentis, and all the info in its production section (and follow any of the sources there to outside publications). - Favre1fan93 (talk) 17:20, 23 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
