why is there no mention of Major Ridge living in Rome Ga? He had a home there and, was a major figure in the town for years. His home is now the Chieftains Museum.

Revision needed

[edit]

This article needs some serious expansion and revision. Furthermore, the NPS "study" does not belong because (1) it deals with Major Ridge only in a peripheral manner (the so-called "Trail of Tears is its focus), and (2) it is not a credbile work of history. Assassination not execution.

[edit]

The description of intra-tribal violence between factions is at odds with the circumstances. Major Ridge clearly was killed as a part of the continuing acrimony between those who were more willing to obtain the best result possible from the dire situation they faced and those who refused. The sourcing does not explain any kind of judicial proceedings that would justify the use of the term "execution" when it says " We do not know the details of the planning of the execution of Boudinot, Major Ridge, and John Ridge."

What was plainly a murder, perhaps best described as an assassination, was not in the form of a death penalty—he was killed in a manner somewhat reminiscent of JFK in fact, shot while traveling to town.

This kind of shading history is why this site has become known as "Wokepedia" and needs to be reversed to improve its reputation. Sychonic (talk) 17:04, 26 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
