Need original quote from the New York Times!

[edit]

I don't have access to the New York Times archives and this article is in there. I prefer to leave the quote in German on the article page, but in case it's felt that a back translation is preferable to a German translation, here it is for anyone to copy & paste if you want to replace the German version.

The preferred solution, of course, is to get the actual article and original quote from the NYT, but for that, you need to either have a subscription to the NYT or cough up $3.95 to gain access to the archived article.

Back translation from German to English:

Dr. George, author of novels and biographies, was known in Germany as a liberal journalist before the rise of Adolph Hitler. He was the editor of Aufbau after arriving here as a refugee without a penny in his pocket. The Aufbau was then a small monthly newsletter of the German-Jewish Club of New York, now called the New World Club. Dr. George set up an advisory board that included Albert Einstein and Thomas Mann and turned the publication into one of an influential weekly newspaper with a circulation of 30,000 subscribers.[1] Marrante (talk) 18:51, 22 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have now replaced the German translation with my back translation. If someone has access to the original article, it would be much appreciated. Marrante (talk) 16:47, 23 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Many thanks to Schreibkraft!
