Copyrights

A word of caution: Text from the National Academey of Engineering website "About" page cannot just be cut and pasted into this article! They have a copyright on the website, and the fact that this page once was just text copied and pasted from the website got it deleted recently.

This goes to their reports as well... They are not part of the US Government but have in fact been charted by an act of the US Congress... Risk Engineer (talk) 18:54, 22 March 2014 (UTC)
Started editing text to clean it up and remove some of the copy and paste as well as add references ... Cheers.... Risk Engineer (talk) 20:52, 1 November 2017 (UTC)

Other Issues

Proper title for article: Shouldn't the title of this article be "United States National Academy of Engineering" since that's its actual name? At the very least, to mirror United States National Academy of Sciences? If no one objects in like, three weeks, I'll somehow get it moved to that title. Only that redirect page stands in the way... • The name is actually "The National Academy of Engineering", but your sense that it needs to be designated as a United States institution strikes me as correct. I'd suggest "National Academy of Engineering (United States)" with redirects from "National Academy of Engineering" and "NAE".Billgade 06:04, 27 August 2007 (UTC)

Expansion. Also, this entry needs to be expanded. The Draper prize, which was originally listed there - along with the Russ and Gordon Prizes - form only a small fraction of what the NAE does. It is a) an honorific society - election to it is considered by many to be the highest honor -- this press release is typical http://media.www.dailyutahchronicle.com/media/storage/paper244/news/2007/02/27/News/Engineering.Professors.Awarded.With.Highest.Honor-2745122.shtml -- and b) it runs 1000s of meeting (yes 1000s) a year that generate significant reports that help the nation deal with science, health and technology issues. No, not thousands. Not even close. You may be thinking of the National Academy of Sciences, of which the NAE is a part. The National Research Council is the operating arm of the NAS and they hold perhaps over 1000 meetings per year. The NAE, however, holds perhaps 30. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nathannae (talkcontribs) 17:28, 23 September 2008 (UTC)

There is redundant material on membership in the overview section ... fixed it ... Cheers ... Risk Engineer (talk) 16:23, 3 November 2017 (UTC)

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to 2 external links on National Academy of Engineering. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether. Very well written

Very well written. Would be awesome if the recent activities and works of NEA were listed and described or information on how young civil engineers can be a part of NAE. Prabinpoudel1831 (talk) 02:58, 14 March 2018 (UTC)
