By-election

[edit]

A by-election is expected in Newport West, but has not been called and may not happen (a new general election could supersede it). A number of candidates were selected by parties in advance of Flynn's death to be their candidates at the next election, be it a by-election or a general election. One party, since Flynn's death, have announced their intention to stand someone in the expected by-election. Given the by-election hasn't been called, no-one has actually been nominated as a candidate. It is possible that any or all of those parties will, by then, choose to nominate someone else or not nominate anyone at all. Other parties will probably stand.

A results table for the by-election has been added, deleted (by me), re-added and re-deleted. We obviously are some way from results. Given the uncertainties described above, per WP:CRYSTAL, I think it's inappropriate to start putting a partial and possibly wrong list of candidates in a results box with no results. Wait until we have results, or at least until people are actually formally nominated and accepted. Bondegezou (talk) 18:14, 27 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Fully agree. Nothing yet needs to be added. Whatever was added might well be misleading. It might even be seen as being politically biased. Martinevans123 (talk) 18:29, 27 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
