Description of the mode

[edit]

No description of how it works? Not even an overview? 160.33.195.21 (talk) 22:38, 15 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I concur this article is lacking. Would love to have an overview of how it works. 159.196.168.4 (talk) 17:40, 11 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Linkage between 802.11 and OCB was removed

[edit]

I read that in some papers that OCB was integrated into 802.11 (e.g. Ferguson and others), but when I read the 802.11 standard there it seems to be not really clear if this OCB has anything to do with the OCB block encryption mode, as mentioned by the user who removed the text. Does someone know more about this? 92.74.176.112 (talk) 12:28, 4 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The OCB FAQ has this to say about OCB and 802.11:

Before this, OCB1 was an optional method in the IEEE 802.11 standard, where it was called WRAP (Wireless Robust Authentication Protocol)
