Show nationality

[edit]
Moved from Talk:Geraldo Perez
I've responded there, based on the previous discussion at my Talk page we had on a related question involving Nickelodeon series. --IJBall (contribstalk) 15:08, 28 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@IJBall: They did bring up one good point in their edit at Pup Academy, which I reverted. However, where a series originates from has nothing to do with what network gets listed. See Max & Shred and the relevant discussion we had at Talk:List of Max & Shred episodes#Zap2it's Air Dates a long time ago. And in any case, if the other networks are to be listed, they need to be sourced, but as you saw, it was difficult to find anything, as, surprisingly, Deadline Hollywood and co. have nothing, and neither does The Futon Critic, which will post press releases or link to other reliable reports—see, for example, what it has for Young Sheldon, or even something from a smaller network, like Knight Squad. Last time I checked, which was yesterday, The Futon Critic had absolutely nothing for the series. No entry or anything in its database. However, even if the other networks are listed once a source is found, it doesn't mean Disney Channel does not get listed. It can be listed along with them. Add: Also notice that the episodes are airing in the United States first, just like Max & Shred's first season. Amaury15:20, 28 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Amaury: The editor seems confused – shows are "produced in Canada for the American market" all the time. This series looks to be one of those – the fact that it's produced in Canada is much less important than the fact that it is produced in Canada for The Disney Channel, which seems to be the case here. (Do any of the sources even mention a Canadian broadcast network for the show?!...) Therefore, if Disney is putting up money for the show, the 'country of origin' should be "Canada" and the "United States", and the main broadcast network is Disney Channel. IOW, the article is correct currently. --IJBall (contribstalk) 15:25, 28 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@IJBall: If it matters, what should be listed first? Canada or United States? Amaury15:29, 28 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Canada first is fine in this case – both because it's alphabetical, and because it looks like it originated in Canada first and was sold to Disney Channel (and Netflix) later... --IJBall (contribstalk) 15:30, 28 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@IJBall: As to your question, not that I remember. You may try to do some digging yourself to see if you can find anything. But it took me quite some digging to find the three—what appear to be reliable—sources I used in the production section. Also, the pilot appears to be available on Disney NOW with no login required. Amaury15:33, 28 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Infobox instructions say "The show's country of origin", not show's country of original broadcast. It is a Canadian production. Irrelevant that the US is the first market for the show. Canada is where production occurred and creative control resides. Disney is just a customer who first committed to buy the product, nothing more. Also per WP:TVLEAD "A series's nationality (country of origin) should be referenced by reliable sources, directly if possible, but otherwise by referencing the country or collaboration within which principal creative control was exercised. If singularly defined, it should be identified in the opening sentence. If the nationality is not singular or cannot be supported by appropriate citation, omit the information from the introductory sentence and cover the different national interests later, where these can reliably be referenced." Still need somebody to check the credits on this show. But if the end-credits are anything like the three series discussed in my Talk page archive link above, if Disney is credited as putting up money, then I agree with Amaury that the country of origin should be both Canada and the U.S. But if there's no ""With the participation on Disney [Channel]"-type credit, then I agree that it's primarily an Air Bud production, and thus Canadian only. --IJBall (contribstalk) 20:15, 29 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I checked the first ep on TVOKids using my trusty VPN connection to "move" to Canada. At very start of video it stated "TVOkids + Airbud Entertainment Original", then "Airbud Entertainment", "In association with TVOkids", same thing at end of video, no mention of Disney Channel on the Canadian version on the video. What airs in the US may differ as the broadcaster may add their own cards. Also stated "Country of origin Canada" in end credits. Geraldo Perez (talk) 20:40, 29 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Just to be clear, while it certainly seems to be up for debate whether this show actually has direct production involvement from the Disney Channel or is just an acquired program, there's simply no debate to be had on the Canadian side at all. It is unmistakeably a Canadian program, and the only question is whether it's "Canadian-only" or "Canadian-American coprod". So you can dispute American categories if you feel strongly about that, but there's simply no legitimate basis for also removing Canadian categories at the same time and thus leaving this described and categorized as a nationalityless show, as was done a few weeks ago — American categories are certainly open for debate due to the ambiguity about whether the Disney Channel is a production partner or just a purchaser, but Canadian categories are not, since the clear and unmistakable Canadian production involvement is not what's in question. Other Canadian premiere dates

[edit]

In the Canadian print, TVO is given priority but the other Canadian provincial broadcasters are listed, too. Knowledge Network debuted the show on September 8th. Damnedfan1234 (talk) 00:17, 20 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Are the episodes correct?

[edit]

The episodes are different with the article and the Netflix one. Is there an explanation for this? 69.243.164.5 (talk) 19:52, 13 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Episodes

[edit]

Netflix has the first twelve episodes as season one and season two "premieres" on Tuesday, December 15th, 2020. Would this be the correct list or does it go by the Canadian broadcast? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2603:6011:7E40:C700:308D:AADD:B222:331D (talk) 01:06, 14 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Episode Summaries

[edit]

Will someone please provide summaries for the episodes of this series? --DukeyDukeyDoo (talk) 00:47, 21 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

What about the recurring characters?

[edit]

What about Rotty, Bite, Pom-pom, and Mullet? They are not even listed! There should be another section for them, and also the principal. Not D.O.G., the human one. I don't remember her name.
