Who wrote the song?

[edit]

The sleeve notes for "The Very Best of Sutherland Bros. & Quiver" gives "I. Sutherland" as composer of "Sailing". Most websites give Gavin, some Iain. Is there some definitive attribution? And, some years ago, I read that Iain or Gavin came up with the tune when he was trying to play the "Mingulay Boat Song" and got the chords wrong (the way a lot of songs come about, I would guess). If one contacted Gavin through his website to get answers on these points, would these be debarred as original research? Mabzilla (talk) 14:00, 4 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Blythe Bridge

[edit]

There is no beach at Blythe Bridge. Staffordshire is a landlocked county.

Cover versions

[edit]

The Apaches did a cover of this for their album "The Apaches Play The Hits Of The Shadows", so can assume The Shadows covered it. Can someone see if they can find anything to verify it? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.68.213.38 (talk) 15:34, 17 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
