Apologies, but I don't seem to be able to begin a new topic/section. I know nothing about the band, having only just heard them for the first time on Last.fm this morning.

Having said that, one thing immediately struck me as odd having read the biography, and noting the ages of some of the members when they died; if they were active between 1972 and 1980, and Epic Soundtracks was 37 when he died (his own entry gives his age at his death as 38, but that's largely irrelevant), then they formed when he was 12 or 13, and he was only 20 or 21 when they split!

Now I've only heard them once, but my first impression was NOT of a bunch of lads who'd barely hit puberty, so I'm flagging up the dates as erroneous, possibly out by a decade or so.

Could someone with better knowledge please confirm the dates as correct and, if they're not (as I STRONGLY suspect) please alter them accordingly…?

Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Margolotta (talkcontribs) 11:54, 30 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Swell Maps.jpg

[edit]

Image:Swell Maps.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Phones Sportsman

[edit]

David Barrington (Phones Sportsman) left the music business in the early 1980s to become a geologist. In 2008 he made a return to music with two albums and several singles for the Topplers label. After this spurt of activity he got tired of music and sold all his gear. However .... this year 2020... he got back in the studio with The NoMen, the inhouse Topplers band. There is a new album out shortly.

As regards the first paragraph on this page .... about the Maps youth. Yes - they formed in school at aged 12. Still teenagers when they made their two albums and split in their very early 20s.... so that timeline is correct.
