Work To Do

[edit]

As of this date the Chronology still requires work to complete missing articles and enter other key dates with the events the occurred. There is the potential we could add an "Aftermath" section at the end of the timeline, I am open to input on that. SirIsaacBrock 01:13, 1 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Battle of Odelltown

[edit]

I couldn't find in the list the Battle of Odelltown which should have happened on June 28, 1814. I couldn't find an article in wikipedia on it either. See for info.[1] Any input would be great. Thanks. Sirtrebuchet 04:16, 1 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

1815

"United States rejects First Bank of the United States proposal." Does anyone know what this proposal was, or where it might be described on WP? It's not mentioned in the articles linked by this item, nor in the main article Results of the War of 1812. Unconventional (talk) 23:25, 5 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It's also in direct conflict with the First Bank of the United States article, which states that it was founded in February 25, 1791. This may be something associated with the Second Bank of the United States, but this proposal should have some citation. 2620:0:1000:4012:BCE0:57A6:FC77:D843 (talk) 16:56, 6 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Why isn't Tecumseh mentioned?

[edit]

Is there any reason that Tecumseh isn't mentioned anywhere here? The way I understand it, he (and his men) played a very important role in the war. TeragR | talk 05:54, 6 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Merging and restructuring

[edit]

I WP:BOLDly merged List of War of 1812 battles into this article after receiving no replies at Talk:List of War of 1812 battles. They have essentially the same scope and were massively WP:OVERLAPping. The only difference was that this article included political and diplomatic events as well, and a lot fewer battles and notes by comparison. By contrast, the list of battles had far too much commentary and far too few references to reliable sources, so I abriged a lot and tagged for WP:V.

The original tabulation I proposed was this:

Date Battle Theater U.S. forces UK forces Summary
July 2, 1812 Capture of the Cuyahoga Packet American Northwest United States Army of the Northwest Provincial Marine On the Detroit River, a Provincial Marine unit under Frédérick Rolette captured U.S. schooner Cuyahoga Packet, containing valuable intelligence.[1]

But I think I'll have to do some adjustments to make this work, also because of non-battle events. I'll see if I can make this work, or if anyone has helpful advice. NLeeuw (talk) 11:28, 12 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
