I uploaded pictures of Trenton Mercer Airport if anyone would like to post them. I am not autoconfirmed as of yet.

Public Transportation Section

[edit]

From Google Earth, and from my personal experience, there are no sidewalks (nor are there shoulders!) along the roads that lead to the passenger terminal. Making it essentially impossible to walk to the airport from any of the public transportation options listed, as they all stop outside of airport grounds. It is dangerous to suggest them as options.

Airport/airline schedule

[edit]

Someone had put up a schedule of the flights at Trenton-Mercer Airport. It is very disappointing to see that schedule has been removed.

What is happening at TTN is a subject of great interest to some of us who study civil aviation. Some 19 airlines have failed at that airport, and it has not had commercial airline service for some time.

Now an airline appears to be making it viable and the question some of us are asking is - how? That schedule was not the whole answer, of course, but it was part of an answer because the limited frequency appears to be crucial to the model.

At the very least, I think there should have been some discussion about it in this "talk" section, before a unilateral decision was made.Marinerpacific (talk) 06:16, 24 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

See WP:AIRPORT-CONTENT and past conversation at WT:AIRPORT. Schedules are not allowed. HkCaGu (talk) 06:21, 24 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I was the person in question who posted the chart. it was not a full schedule with flight times and flight numbers but a frequency guide to help understand when service operated. I checked the links that were provided by HkCaGu and I could not find any reference to schedules not being allowed, in fact I found the following on the Airport Content Page "Finally, remember that you're in no way obliged to follow all, or even any, of these guidelines to contribute an article." Trenton Mercer is not like most airports in that they only have one commerical carrier where 82% of their destinations are less than daily.Jthompson5254 (talk) 18:14, 24 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You have to look in archived discussion. See also WP:NOTTRAVEL. You can write in prose explaining how many of the routes are less than daily, but a listing/day of which days for which routes makes it a travel guide. HkCaGu (talk) 19:21, 24 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I think there is a difference between a travel guide and a research tool and what is happening at Trenton-Mercer Airport is remarkable. In early November 2012 it had no commercial airline service, by the end of November it had two flights a week. Now, some fifteen months later, it has over 300,000 passengers a year and by summer will have over 70 flights a week. The numbers are contained in this link:

http://www.nj.com/mercer/index.ssf/2014/02/official_outlines_13_million_in_trenton-mercerairport_improvements_expects_traffic_to_more_than_doub.html

Given the long history of commercial airline failure at TTN, many people are scratching their heads about this and it has already been described as "surreal." Clearly, the less-than-daily schedule, as illustrated in the deleted chart, plays into this, and - eventual success or eventual failure - I have little doubt that it will be used as a model in future examinations of civil aviation as a business, and what small, disregarded airports can do.

I would write a prose piece about this, to satisfy the rules, but again, I have little doubt (well, no doubt, actually) that some other editor would delete it as simple publicity for the airport/airline, a piece of puffery, a shill.Marinerpacific (talk) 18:50, 26 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

MKE/CLE/MSP/STL seasonal as of 1/7/15

[edit]

TTN to MKE/CLE/MSP/STL are seasonal effective 1/7/15 thru the end of the current schedule (3/1/15). See Frontier route map (http://www.flyfrontier.com/plan-book/routes-schedules/route-map) and attempts to book flights after that date give errors (MSP/STL show some days on the calendar feature but when selected give errors). TTN-Midway NOT seasonal

[edit]

While it does say on Flyfrontier.com that TTN-MDW is seasonal, according to this article it is being discontinued and replaced with ORD service. http://chicago.suntimes.com/business/7/71/374612/frontier-airlines-ohare-new-routes "In addition, the airline said its nonstop flights between Midway and Trenton, New Jersey, will transfer to O’Hare beginning April 15." Also seasonal MDW in addition to ORD doesn't make any sense especially since MDW is not operating this summer according to the Book Flights page. If it were going seasonal we would see it staying on for summer as additional service and being discontinued for Winter when vacation traffic is down. Also TTN-MDW last day is the 13th not the 14th as a editor stated. http://ttninfo2.jigsy.com/files/resized/96290/810;269;de641cc4b0a33cf89879d808036da61bedff14ff.jpg

Top 10 TTN routes do NOT include ORD

[edit]

Frontier did not start service to O'Hare Airport ORD until Mid-April 2015 therefore it is not a top 10 busiest route from June 2014 to May 2015. This is confirmed by the US DOT's report on this subject. The proper airport is Chicago-Midway or Chicago, IL MDW as it is referred to in the US DOT report. Is there anyway to block editing for this section? Jthompson5254 (talk) 04:13, 16 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
