[edit]

The University of Louisville Marching Band is a band of a long history. It is referred to on a variety of other Wikipedia pages for its contributions to the Louisville, KY area. Within this long history is the band's annual appearance at the Kentucky Derby -- "The Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports." As the page will tell you, the band has the honor of playing "My Old Kentucky Home" on national television every year just minutes before the big race. The song is, of course, the state song of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The tradition has been going on since the 1920s. It is for this reason especially that this marching band has cultural prominence that should have its own place in the grand scheme of Wikipedia. Heightening the public's awareness of this tradition, as well as the other bits of history that this page will offer, will both be motivation for young high school students to work toward gaining access to the college experience and potentially be useful in recruiting them to this honored program.

Furthermore, the marching band's prominence is as significant as both The University of Louisville Cardinal Singers and The University of Louisville Collegiate Chorale. All three of these groups are housed in the University's School of Music, and both the Cardinal Singers and Collegiate Chorale have their own individual Wikipedia pages that display their history and accolades, respectively. Removed copy/pastes from uoflbands.com

[edit]

Regretfully, I had to remove a lot of material that was copied/pasted from uoflbands.com. If there is any other content that was copied/pasted from another site, it needs to be removed too. Only content that is written in your own words (although based on references) is allowed here. Stevie is the man! TalkWork 01:40, 7 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Photo Removal

[edit]

I don't understand why my photo of the CMB at the Derby was removed. This is a photo I took myself. I own the rights and though I gave proper permission for it to be used. What do I need to do to add this photo, and other photos I have taken of the CMB properly? --Rk1228 (talk) 23:46, 14 December 2014 (UTC)Ray Kirkland[reply]
