Translation from German

[edit]

I have managed to translate up to 90% of the german Victoria (Motorrad) article. Its references are all in German so I haven't listed them at the bottom of the English article. Those who can read german should refer to the german article; those who can't would be none the wiser if I gave them the german references.

My german is not perfect. If you see a translational error please correct it, and if you can translate one of the sections that I missed please do so.

This translation took me three or four hours. If you find fault with it, please raise the issue by writing a polite message on my talk page, not by sticking a critical tag on the article or threatening to delete my work. I joined Wikipedia to share knowledge and be polite, not to pick fault with other people's best efforts. Motacilla (talk) 16:23, 3 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

KR 9 Fahrmeister

[edit]

I've added details of the KR 8 sidevalve twin and its unusual successor, the EOI-engined KR 9 Fahrmeister. All the sources that I can find describe the KR 9 plant as an IOE engine. It isn't! The KR 8 had problems with its exhaust valves overheating, so it was the exhaust valves that were placed "overhead" so that, on this nearly horizontal engine, they stuck out front in the cool breeze. There are plenty of KR 9 photo's online. Unfortunately the engine is fully enclosed behind pressed steel side-panels and I've not yet found a photo with the panels off to prove my point. There's one in a book, but it's copyright. If anyone sees a Victoria KR 9 and they have a camera handy, please ask the owner to take the panels off so you can photograph the engine for Wikipedia! V. is now e-bike maker

[edit]

The brand name was purchased from Hercules by an e-bike maker and "Victoria" was relaunched in the 1990's. 91.60.144.99 (talk) 06:40, 13 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
