A note on British English

[edit]

British English should be used for articles on Britain related topics. Likewise, American English should be used on articles pertaining to American topics. For a clearer example, please visit this sub-section on the differences between their usage. --Siva1979Talk to me 02:23, 20 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Shortest name

[edit]

I've just removed the following "...which the club claim is the shortest name of any club affiliated to The Football Association." The club's name is no shorter than that of Football League club, Bury F.C.. Dancarney (talk) 13:03, 20 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not to mention it's longer than VT F.C........ ChrisTheDude (talk) 15:41, 20 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Nice!Dancarney (talk) 16:20, 20 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

But Bury are not affiliates of the FA, rather they are full members. In any event the statement that "the club claim ...." is correct whether or not that claim is correct. I can't comment on the VT FC issue. When I wrote the history of Ware FC in 1992 from which the claim originates I believe they played under a different name. Attendance in 2007/08 FA-Cup

[edit]

This articles says, that the attenedance was 2123 in the first FA-Cup round, but in the article FA Cup 2007-08 it is listed as only 982. --Qaywsxedc (talk) 00:34, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I was in charge of the gate for that match and can confirm that the attendance was 2123. I have no idea where the 982 came from although it was first quoted on the 15 seconds highlights on BBC on the evening of the match. I can only assume it was made up by someone but for no obvious reason.Hacman100 (talk) 21:41, 18 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Move to Wodson Park

[edit]

I am surprised that there is no reference to the ground move, which I believe took place in 2001, at the instigation of Glaxo, which wanted the site of the earlier ground as car-parking space.

Does anyone have reliable information on this? Occedit (talk) 15:02, 11 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Further googling provided a source (http://worldgroundhop.blogspot.com/2009/08/ware.html) saying that the ground move was in the 1996/7 season.
Again, does anyone have more information? Occedit (talk) 15:37, 11 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
